A headache or cold had to be severe for me to take anything. I'd had two surgeries prior to RA and I'd stop taking the pain medicine as soon as I could. I remember in the hospital not pressing the button as often as I needed it and the DR telling me to press it more often. I don't drink alcohol and have never taken illegal drugs. I always felt drugs were bad and did everything I could to avoid them. When I was dx with RA 3 years ago, I started having to take medicine twice a day and I have totally changed my views on taking medicine. I take it when I need it, and I don't worry about it. Now, I don't think twice about taking meds for colds or headaches. I take what I need. Of course, the small amount of other meds are so minor compared to all the drugs I take for RA.
