I have been on Arava since May and I had my hair cut yesterday. My hairstylist

told my I have lost 1/2 my hair since May. Rats! This is a side affect of

Arava. I could tell my hair is thinner. Lucky I started with a full head of

hair. My RA doc told me this might happen and your hair grows back when you

stop taking Arava. HMMM. Now I have to wait and see if it stops falling out.

I can take thin hair but no hair???

Anyone else have this symptom from Arava? My doc said he only had one patient

who went bald.

I have loss some of my hair as expected. Funny, the DR's say it will grow back

when you stop taking it but no point of stopping it in the future, so I don't

know what that is worth.

Hi Pat,

I have had little hair loss, but nothing serious. I have been on it since

January 1999. The bad side to it is I have very fine hair. But I am NOT bald!

Hi , This is Steph in VA. My hair falls out alot too but I'm on methotrexate. Folic Acid is actually a good thing for any woman in her childbearing years to take -- RA or not, metho or not. Have you talked to your rheumy about your calcium & Vitamin D intake? I take Viactiv 3 times a day (they're tastier than Tums) and they help with hair, bones, teeth & nails. Take care, Steph <kyrik@...> wrote: I've had really extreme hair loss for several years now, probably since the time

I started getting RA, althoughI wasn't DXd till recently. I'm not on MTX, just Enbrelnow. Have any of you experienced this? Hair loss justfrom the RA? And would Folic Acid help that?Thx,

Thx, Steph,

I'm taking liquid calcium, although I need to do it more regularly. And

I was deficient in Vit D when I first saw my rh so he put me on

prescription Vit D. But I really need to start taking more of that, too,

plus folic acid.

We did a poll about a year ago, and a third of the folks were

experience hair loss. About three of those folks found out that it

was a result of a thyroid issue after talking to their primary

caregivers. Bottom line is, a TON of other stuff causes hair loss,

so it's best to check with your property.

I haven't had hair loss, but I have had ringing in the ears since starting

Xolair. Not sure if that's the cause or not. I've been trying to research side

effects without much success.

What are others experiencing around this side effect?

I have ringing in my ears, but I have had it for the last three or four years,

long before I started on xolair and it has not gotten any worse. Some days I

hardly notice it. Other days it is very loud.
