Feeling Better

Just wanted to let everyone know (some of you already know) that I'm

doing much better.

After having my knees drained and cortisone shot in them on Monday, NO

joints are hurting. I'm guessing it was some stress, but after a week I

think the Minocin is finally having a chance, too, to do it's stuff. I

know it's too soon to tell, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and

saying my prayers!!

I also pray ALL of you see GREAT healing soon, as well.

God Bless, Debra

, I'm so glad you're getting a little pain relief with the Darvocet.

Hopefully the Remicade will be approved by your insurance and you'll respond

well to it. It sounds like your doctor is taking your RA seriously and

willing to do what it takes to get you feeling good again.

About the sweepstakes. My mom started entering them last summer, and in 4

months she won over $1,000 in cash and merchandise. She won $500, and she

won a really nice Sony Handycam. She also won a bunch of little stuff. She

did say that since the dot.com bubble " burst " , it's a little harder to win,

but it certainly can be done. I thought you'd like to know that they really

DO give that stuff away.

I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Carol

[ ] feeling better

Thank you all for your concerns and suggestions. I am feeling a little

better today. I think that after trying all of those different nsaids, it

took a toll on my stomach and body. I hope that it is all out of my system

now. My rheumy and I are trying to find an effective pain reliever and

sometimes you have to go through a few to get a good one. I am trying

darvocet n100 right now and it seems to be agreeing with me. He is also

trying to get approval for remicade. The prosorba column didn't work out

although it was approved. I just couldn't travel that far each week for the

treatments. My insurance company must be wondering what the heck is going

on. My sleep patterns are still a bit messed up, but I am hoping that they

will improve now that my stomach is calmer and I have some pain relief. I

also think that some of the problem is that my PCP increased the HCTZ and

didn't advise to take in more potassium. So now I have been eating a banana

each day and it seems to make a difference. I can't drink orange juice for

potassium because it bothers my stomach. I actually got outside and started

to cut the grass on the rider and got about halfway done before it started

raining. Wyatt is going to spend the night with his father on Sat. I drop

him off in the a.m. and then I have a Longaberger basket party to go to.

Does anyone else out there collect these baskets? I love them. Its

something that my mom and I do together. I have also started entering

sweepstakes on the internet. I find a lot of them when I am up in the

middle

of the night just browsing around. You never know. Thank you all again for

the support. It means alot especially in the middle of the night when

everyone else is asleep. I know there is always someone here that I can

talk

to.

http://www.contesthound.com/contests/

, this is just one site I found. They are directories for contests.

They subdivide them into daily, weekly etc. My mom had one site she thought

had a lot of good contest links. I'll email her and ask her for it, and

forward it to the group.

Wow, Stacey, you sure have been having a time of it!

I hope that things are going to start to settle down for you soon. How is

your back? Was they surgery worth it? I am in my epidural injections series

right now and go for my last one in about 1 week, all things considered. To

date, these injections have not been as effective as they usually are and I

was told that this series was iffy at best and he was really doing it just at

my request, that I should seriously start thinking about the surgery. Then

when I went for my first epidural, the anesthesiologist tells me almost the

exact same thing. I was just wondering what your results have been. I know

that you have had so many other things going on during this time also, that

it must seem like a roller coaster ride!

Hope things start to settle down for you soon!

Sending gentle, tender, feel better angel hugs to you!

Hi Debs,

My back surgery went better than even I expected. I have almost no back

pain. Every once in a while, I get some stiffness and achy, but that is

usually my fault. I highly reccommend looking into the surgery. My incision

was about 2 inches and required 7 staples. The recovery time wasn't really

that bad. After about 2-3 days, the pain is pretty much gone. The hardest

part is that you are not allowed to bend or pick anything up for quite a

while. I have my last follow-up appt tomorrow and expect to be released from

neuro's care. It is a 100% improvement for me with the back pain. And you

are right. It seems like everything is falling on me at once right now. My

RA is completely out of control. I know that as soon as my rheumy can get me

on some kind of DMARD treatment that it will calm down. I hope so anyway. I

just can't figure out the problem with my feet and ankles swelling so bad.

And I was putting off the dentist for quite a while. My cousin in Virginia

who has RA says that she also has problems with her teeth. So maybe its a

part of the disease or the meds. She also has problems with her eyes, which

I am starting to have and have just been denying it. I just want to get my

teeth and the swelling and the RA under control before I jump into the water

with the ophthalmologist right now. I keep believing that any day now one of

these problems will be taken care of. I'll always find that rainbow

tomorrow. LOL But, yes, the back surgery provided much needed relief. The

procedure that I had was called a microdiscotomy. Hope this helps with your

decision.

Great news! Glad it's working for you. I hate it when I have to

take prednisone, but gee--the choice between the bad side effects

and breathing? No choice really. I rarely have to go on prednisone

now and feel blessed because of that. Stay healthy.

By the way--for all of you members. I know this site is mainly for

xolair users and about xolair, but I don't remember reading anything

about pulmonary rehab on any of the postings. My pulmonologist

prescribed pr for me at my request and it was the best thing for

me. My insurance and medicare paid for all of it. You can find

information on pulmonary rehab by going to a COPD sight.

I am still researching xolair--still undecided about getting the

shots.

Addy, that's wonderful! As I've described recently, I've had great

success adding a second steroid inhaler to Advair 500/50 during

flare-ups,almost always allowing me to avoid going on prednisone. I

have had some side effects from the large amount of inhaled steroids

I need, but far milder than the side effects I have when I'm on

prednisone. Hope you continue to feel well!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know I am feeling much better today. I finally got a good nights sleep. When I woke up the flu like symptoms seem to have went away now I just have my normal wrist and finger pains. I can deal with that much better. I used to take alot of vitamins ( flax seed oil, calcium, multi, folic acid, vitamin c). I got out of the habit last month when I went on vacation. I dont know if that helped me feel any better but I know I'm not going to get out of that habit again. Thanks again for listening to me and all the advice.
