Oh, Amy, so sorry to hear about this! Maybe should be taking vitamin C if

it doesn't hurt her throat too much. Maybe some echinacea and goldenseal?

(go easy on it, though)

Amy, Sorry I wasn't answering your question about pain. There are

homeopathics which work wonders, but my only experience is with arnica -

don't know if her symptoms match those for arnica, though.

Essential oils have pain blocking and anti-infectious qualities. One idea- add

a few drops of Peppermint oil (food grade only) to a spray bottle filled with

distilled water, spray in mouth for pain blocking and healing effect.

Amy,

Call Phyllis for homeopathy

Aconite is great for something that comes on suddenly like that did.

Look at how she is acting - scared? shy? fearful? clinging? irritable? And

look in the book and find out which remedy

Hi there... I had a lateral release, and some

other things done on my left knee in May. I also had a

lateral release and some other things done on my right

knee, on Nov 21st (this past week) It took me almost 6

months to have no pain from the left one. Right now I am

in severe pain, considering I am only 4 days post

op. I cant tell you about the knee cap pain. I can

tell you that I had that in my right knww prior to

surgery. I would be very worried about the sharp pain, but

as for the other pain. It will get better.. the key

is to get that vastus medialis muscle strengthened.

If you do not do that.. then it will not feel any

better.. It took me 6 months to get mine where it should

be ( could even be better) but I am very happy with

my OS, he answers questions, and gives me the time I

need. If I did not feel any better from the first

surgery I surely would not have had the second one done.

If you need more advice let me know.

AJ

Where was your injection administered? Back when I was taking

depo-testosterone injections I was given one in the arm. I couldn't

sleep for 4 days and my arm drew up against my chest, couldn't move it

or even let anyone touch it. Some of the worse pain I have ever felt,

but it did subside after about the 4th day. I never found out what

caused it but I never allowed them to inject my arm ever again.

My only guess is that a nerve was damaged.

I definitely feel for your pain though. Hope it goes away soon for you.

question about pain

Hi guys,

Had my sustanon 250 injection 4 days ago. After the injection I can

barely walk with the pain. Its ben 4 days now and only relieved a bit.

Is this normal or is it the way the injection was done?Or some other

reason?. Doctor just pushed it in fast and pressed.Next day the pain

got bad.

Perhaps the doctor gave you the shot in the leg.Its

important regardless of where the shot is given,to

relax the muscle,if not relaxed then yes you will have

pain.Next time you have the shot, have him give it to

you in the arm just below the shoulder, its a lot

easier to relax this muscle as you can just let your

arm dangle or hang down.

Pushing or jabbing the needle in is fine but,a slow

release is best

Depo shot in the arm? I have never ever heard of that one. In the

thigh or buttocks is what my doctor has told me.

The following was a quote that I found regarding sustanon. found it on

AnabolicStore.com

" This however is still a Testosterone and, as with all Testosterone

products, androgenic side effects are unavoidable. It should also be noted

that Propionate is often a very painful injection. Users very regularly

report swelling and noticeable pain for days. "

Hi , Many here have posted on DLPA (DL-Phenylalanine) for this, a supplement that you can buy in health food stores and online at supplement houses. Victor <pomsaregreat@...> wrote: Hi Everyone, I was wondering what to do if you need pain control? I realize LDN is made to block opiodes but does it block say codiene at such a low dose? Does it cause any other side effects when taken together? I have another illness other than ms which can require pain meds. Do you just grin and bare it? I made sure I was off the codeine for awhile before starting the LDN. I would hate to take a step back. Thanks

Hi Barbara,

I agree that a chiropractor would be a good option to try. I

recently had whip lash and seeing my chiropractor was incredibly helpful.

lol -- Sorry it's not funny, is it?

I've always noticed that I feel a sharp pain or something down the nerve from an

actual pain site or nerve stimulus. Not always but sometimes. I assumed

everyone did that until I asked my husband and he thought I was crazy :)

No explanations, just observations.

Barbara,

Sounds like he might have put his neck out (like a small whip lash) or pulled a

muscle at the same time he sprained his ankle. Ask any chiropractor. Keep ice

and heat on it. I wanted to laugh when I read this, because crazy things can

happen. I had an incident once, where my husband and I were taking a driving and

going down a hill on a country road, with our windows down, when a semi passed

us. My neck hurt so bad after that, so I went to the chiropractor and sure

enough I had a whiplash. Wow, what its like getting old!

Debbie, & Gretchen,

Thank you so much for your responses. Finding people who understand

is priceless.

We will see how things progress for my son. He has a tough road

ahead, as he is obese and has a lot of weight to lose... and little

ability to move right now.

Any pain I have had has been limited to my feet, and that pain feels

like my feet are burning - or on fire. I have had that off and on since

childhood. Just changed shoes and socks alot, and into adulthood I

began taking Elavil (Amitriptyline) which has helped. I also have used

lotions kept in the refridgerator, Biofreeze, and ice packs.

More recently, maybe 7 years or so ago, I had some electrical

like 'sizzles' shoot up my left arm and back to my fingertips, while at

rest. So again, I put that in the 'burning'' category. For 1 year,

while Neurontin (Gabapentin) was still being used for off label

purposes, I took that and it helped so much. Once I stopped that

medication, the 'arm sizzles' have completely vanished.

As for muscle pain, in high school, my muscles would contract and be

stiff. I had physical therapy, plus potassium supplements, and then,

after sleeping for 8-9 hours, no pain, muscles would be completely

relaxed. I no longer get contractures or have problems with muscle

cramping/pain.

Antibiotic Therapy - Road Back Foundation

http://www.roadback.org

The above site advocates antibiotic treatment for RA and as an advocacy

site it does tend to go overboard about what is good about antibiotics and what

is bad with other treatments. I haven’t tried antibiotics myself

but many people claim good success with them. There have not been many

carefully done clinical trials with antibiotics and the ones I have seen say

they are probably less effective than other medications for most people but for

some people they are the only thing that works.

I’m surprised a doctor who treats RA is not aware of antibiotic

therapy. You might not be seeing a rheumatologist (specialist in

arthritis) and few other doctors are really qualified to diagnose or treat

RA. Also with your doctor apparently not being acquainted with antibiotic

therapy you may want a second opinion even if you are currently seeing a

rheumatologist. God bless.

Question about Pain

Yes I live with this every single day of my life. I

have fibromyalgia

as well as RA and there is hardly a day goes by that I don't feel like

this. I am not on any thing but pain meds but mostly the only time I

don't feel like this is when I am on an antibiotic for an ear

infection. My doc and I have been trying to figure out why the

antibiotic makes me feel better but don't have a clue. Sometime when it

is just too bad she will give me a RX for Zithromax even though we

both are aware of the dangers of taking antibiotics when you don't need

them i.e. they cease to work on the bugs when you do need them but the

pain is so bad I can't tolerate it anymore.

I'm sorry to hear that someone else has this also. It's a living hell.

lla, thanks so much for answering. I was beginning to wonder if this pain was maybe something else that could be wrong with me. I am at my witts end. I dont know what else to do. I wish the pain meds would work. I cant imagine what other kind of meds my doc could put me on. It wasnt so bad when this happened a few days a week but everyday is just unbearable. I don’t have fibromyalgia but some

of what you describe sounds like that’s what it might be. Some

doctors don’t really believe that fibromyalgia is a real disease but

others prescribe some medication for it that seems to work for some

people. The name Flexeril comes to mind for a medication for fibromyalgia

but I’m not sure. Please call your doctor to let him/her know that

you need something changed.

Another thing that comes to mind is that

there are some diseases that can be misdiagnosed as RA but need different

medications. This includes some thyroid problems and Lyme disease, and

probably a lot of others. You might check with both your rheumatologist

and GP to see if you have been tested for things like that. You are

on even more medications than I am so it might be something other than

RA.

One thing that is often done is to use

Prednisone for temporary relief and diagnostic information. It is a strong

anti-inflammatory that usually helps a lot with the symptoms of RA but does

little to slow down permanent joint damage. It also has some bad side

effects so you only want to stay on it long enough to permit you to function as

needed. Also after taking it for a while you need to taper off instead of

quitting suddenly.

I’m not medically trained but I have

read message boards for a few years so I have a lot of anecdotal information

and I also search the internet often for answers to questions. I hope you

and your doctor can find something to help you. God bless.

Question about Pain

Does anybody else get body aches? It

almost feels like when I get the flu. My whole body hurts and aches with hot

and cold chills sometimes. I woke up last night in so much pain. I have

darvocet and vicodin ES for pain and nothing seems to work when it gets that

bad. One a daily basis I get slight aches that feel like flu like symptoms and

the pain meds to work. I have alway associated the aches with my RA but

I've never heard anyone else describing their symptoms that way. I have been

feeling horrible for the past six months or longer. My doc and I both wrote it

off as the weather at first but it got to the point where I just knew it

wasnt the weather anymore. I was on 6 bottles of Remicade every six weeks a few

weeks ago he added another bottle. I have noticed any difference yet and I

hoping it YET! I also get gold injections every four weeks and take

methotrexate 8 tablets a week. Please let me know if these a! re normal

symptoms of RA. I dont know if I can deal with this until August 29th when I go

to the docs again. We have plans to go to the zoo next week and I just dont

know if I will beable to do all that walking and standing.

Thanks for listening to me. I had to get it out or cry or maybe I'll do both

Hon I find having a hobby of some sort that takes your mind away from

the pain helps me immensly. I am lucky enough to have an embroidery

machine and I do sewing for charity. Right now I am involved in making

" paper " cloth dolls for children of disaster, mostly we are still

working for the Katrina victims and listening to books on tape while the

machine is sewing. And I do a lot of praying and talking to my birds,

anything to take my mind off what my body is going through. Otherwise I

would have checked out of this world a long time ago.

Physically I can't do a lot. The sewing doesn't require a lot of

physical movement and lets me still feel useful and that helps me

mentally deal with it.

Ardeith writes: I don't want to rain on your parade, , but you will have very few days that you feel "normal" again. Don't get fixated on achieving that.....you'll just create more misery for yourself. Focus on everyday being the best day it can be..... maybe today you feel well enough to dust and vaccuum your entire house, but yesterday you didn't want to move. It goes like that.....you are going to have to learn to go with it.

If you try to force things.....such as cleaning the whole house on a day you are feeling really bad.....you'll pay for it tomorrow with even more pain and stiffness. You have to learn to pace yourself.....does it matter if you take all day to dust one room? You dust a bit, then sit down and rest and read a bit, then dust a bit more? It gets done, eventually, and you've done what your body can tolerate. You and I are not the same people.....what you can do today, I might not be able to accomplish....but what I might be able to do tomorrow may be beyond you......don't compare what you can do with anyone else, or with what you could do five years ago.......that just leads to depression.....
