Guest guest Posted February 16, 2004 Report Share Posted February 16, 2004 After I was diagnosed in December by a neurologist in my insurance plan, I wanted a second opinion and was referred to several " top " MS doctors in Manhattan. Most of them charge $750 and spend about an hour with you. In contrast, Dr. Bihari charges $500 and he easily spent two hours with me. He also returns phone calls THAT day--a definite anomaly in this city. When I was having a terrible time after taking 4.5 mg for three days, he got on the phone with me immediately. How many doctors are that responsive and compassionate? In answer to the question about sleep... I've been on 3 mg for about seven weeks and it's only in the last week that I've stopped waking up during the night at all. But even when I was waking up every two or three hours--which lasted about a month--I'd fall back asleep quickly. I still have trouble falling asleep, however, and frequently cut a 5 mg Ambien in half. The point is that your sleep WILL get better. Your endorphins are firing up again, but once they do...
