The advantage (if you perceive it as such - LOL!) is that you can instant

message friends who have AOL. It's a feature in AOL that allows you to

create a " buddy list " which shows when friends are on-line, then you can

highlight their names, click IM (for instant message) & friend gets pop up

screen message & you can chat back & forth instantly. Sort of like a private

chat room...

Slight correction, you do not have to have AOL as your internet provider,

anyone can join, although I am not sure it is available for those with Web

TV.
