Guest guest
I just started IV rocephin about a month ago and just finished two weeks of utter hell from a herxheimer. Last week I started oral Flagyl along with it. Yesterday I finally felt myself coming out of the herx thankfully... for now. But I have to say, dealing with the physical suffering of the herxheimer is not as bad as the emotional suffering/panic I felt when orals stopped helping me and I started sliding backwards. I wanted to also tell of a little experience I just dealt with. Last night I spent 3 hours in the emergency room in order to have my PICC line (midline) cleared. The blood has clotted inside it. After 3 hours of waiting to see a doctor, they told me that they have " no protocol " in dealing with PICC lines. In other words, " we don't wanna get sued (or get sued again). " My home nurse had no idea the hospital had changed their policy. So, my only choice now is to get a whole new line put in!! I'm supposed to get a new line again next week, but I'm annoyed that that is my only option anytime I get a clot?!? I was late flushing the line on saturday so I know it's my own fault.... but this is ridiculous. They tell me that I only have to flush it once a day (when I do my infusion) but look what happens when I actually do it once a day! I have been doing it twice a day because the blood backs up into the tube ALL THE TIME. I don't like pumping that heparin in my body twice a day no matter how diluted it supposedly is but I have no choice. They say it's normal for it to back up like that and yet they are perplexed when it clots because I was late doing a flush. So, tomorrow they will pull this line out and put in a new one. Guest guest
WOW, Jen, I just went to your web site and I am so impressed and please with all the work you have done. I did attempt web design before my last relapse and I understand why you like it, especially the writing and fine arts sides. You have an amazing story to tell. Keep up the great work!
