Guest guest
From Ellen: It never ends, does it? At least we are in a very different position than we were a year ago. We have the backing of much of the Assembly and the Assembly Health Committee. In response to this latest act by the OPMC, we are encouraging everyone who has not yet written the thank you letters to those Assembly Health Committee members who attended the hearing to do so , emphasizing that the recent OPMC appeal of the case against Dr. B. makes an Assembly resolution of urgent importance. Remember that the resolution we are asking for is a statement that there is a legitimate scientific controversy in the treatment and diagnosis of Lyme disease, and that the OPMC, therefore, has no right to take sides by harrassing those doctors who treat chronic Lyme disease. If you have already sent in your letter of thanks, please send another letter urging immediate action due to the fact that the OPMC has continued its harassment of Dr. Burrascano by appealing the decision of the hearing panel. Letters should be sent to: Assemblyman Gottfried, Chair, Assembly Committee on Health, LOB 822 Albany, NY 12248 Assemblyman Cohen, LOB 834, Albany, NY 12248 Assemblywoman Nettie Mayersohn, LOB 746, Albany, NY 12248 Assemblywoman Maureen O'Connell, LOB 326, Albany, NY 12248 Letters to Assemblywoman O'Connell should also include a request that she speak with Senator Kemp Hannon to encourage a Senate resolution similar to the one we are asking the Assembly to write. Assemblyman , LOB 531, Albany, NY 12248 HOWEVER, to send a thank you with a contribution to 's campaign fund, please, instead, send to: *Committee to Re-elect *, 10 Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 (and make checks out to the committee to re-elect joel miller) Everyone who went to the hearing knows how much he has earned our support!! ----- That's it for now. We will probably issue another action alert as we further explore the situation. But in the meantime, please write the above letters and please try to contribute to Dr. B's Legal Defense Fund. I will repost that address and the address of the Orens Legal Defense Fund tomorrow. Thanks, Ellen __________________________________________________
Guest guest
The way the OPMC works now that DrB was so kind as to explaine it so I can understand it reminds me of the German gastapo.....It seems VERY corrupt to me and I think alot of " noise " needs to be made in way of reform....but what can we do? Guest guest
Robyn, I really agree that this is completely corrupt and disgusting. The reform of the OPMC probably will happen. That should be much clearer after the second Assembly hearing in few weeks. However, this will only protect doctors charged in the future. To help Dr. B. and the other docs under the gun now, the best thing we can do is write those letters that I suggested in the post from CWS3333. The other thing to do is to contribute to the Legal Defense Funds. I also want to make a lot of noise about this, BUT Dr. B has been instructed by his attorney to keep his name out of the newspapers now. So we need to make noise about the general OPMC issue, but not about Dr. B. At any rate, the best place to make noise right now is by urging the Assembly people to make a resolution about the OPMC not having a right to take sides in the scientific controversy of Lyme disease. Guest guest
Please, let's gather our strength one more time to push forward for this important reform. (I just can't believe the deck is so stacked against us...despite our best efforts to-date.) We cannot afford to stop now! Dr. B is depending on us, and our future health-care depends on the outcome. Let's get those letters of appreciation out and emphasize our objectives. Love ya, Rose > From Ellen: > > It never ends, does it?
