Guest guest
Gee my PICC line has clogged a couple of times and they have used a clot breaker (can't remember the term they used), something like tpa, to unclog it. I had to go to the ER a couple of weeks ago because mine had sprung a leak and they had to repair it. The IV nurse from the hospital does this, not the ER staff. Sorry you hvae to go through another insertion.

My current script is until March but my llmd said probably at least six months. In the beginning, I was on the IV for about a week and then my gallbladder flipped out so I had to stop for a week, re-tested levels, and then I re-started with no problems. After about a week and a half back on the IV, I started herxing very badly. That lasted for about two weeks... the last few days haven't been great... still herxing... but it's better and tolerable. (As you can see, I'm on the computer reading and typing instead of suffering in bed.) I take elavil (started at 1/4 of 10mg tab and later increased to 1/2 tab) at night a few hours before bed and when I get really bad insomnia, I take Sonata which is really great because you take it and then you're OUT. The best thing is that it only stays in your system for four hours so you're not a zombie the next day. Basically, the sonata puts me to sleep when I need it and the elavil helps me sleep deeper and better. The elavil has really helped. My SO takes 1/4 a tab and finds that that dose is adequate for him while I had to increase to 1/2 a tab to get results. Hope that helps! If you hang in there, I will too ok? I don't know if you know, but they come in pre-filled syringes. It's supposedly a very diluted amount. I could always just use half the syringe tho... My llmd says to definitely flush twice a day so maybe I'll trust him. I get blood drawn every week so I should just relax about it I suppose!
