Guest guest
Hi Lyra We are on the same medication and the same dosage. I'm feeling pretty awful, and I'm hoping it is the Ceftin kicking Lyme butt. This is my 4th week on Ceftin. You are on the right dosage for Lyme treatment according to my Lyme doctor. Try to give it some time before switching to another antibiotic. No one knows for sure if we're having a " herx " or a Lyme Flare, however my doctor feels that by the end of the 6th week on Ceftin I should see improvement. My best advice to you is to try to stick with the Ceftin for at least 6 weeks, and have faith in your LLMD. Take care, Jane
Guest guest
Hi Jane, I am now on my 4th week of Ceftin (my 6th week of ABx treatment-was on doxy for two weeks). I just got another month's worth of Ceftin and then I will see how I feel. I started getting aches and pains after I started the medication and then about 10 days ago I was having head pressure, neck aches, swollen lymph nodes and a fever (though at that point the aches & pains are gone). After a week the pressure sometime gets better and sometimes it gets worse...the neck always hurts and now the aches & pains are back. I am also getting chest pains and my jaw hurts (may be TMJ). This my be a herx or a Lyme flare so I guess I will stick out the next 4 weeks on the Ceftin. Do you remember when you were inefcted? Thanks for the note! This is my 4th week on Ceftin. Hi All: For what it's worth, I have been on CEFTIN as my main antibiotic during my entire treatment (from Nov., 1999) and also was on Doryx & Mepron for a period of time. With Ceftin I certainly have the up/down cycles and the appropriate Herxheimer reactions. In fact each and every time I take it (500mg 2x/day) I can feel the toxins from the kill off still even though I am now improving. (That is why I walk 1 hour after taking it to empty some of the toxins and get some oxygin and heat in my body). Just this past Wednesday my LLMD remarked how effective Ceftin was in his opinion. He suggested that it " may " well cross the blood/brain barrier though there is as yet no certitude via proof, but through patient reports he feels it does. He also said he " has gotten patients out of wheel-chairs with Ceftin " . I have never had any other dosage than 1000mg/day. (I remember a couple of times I was a " bad boy " when during really bad Herx.'s I skipped a dosage!!). Peace to all; -Glen from Beautiful Hunterdon County, NJ. * Spiritual cultivation is composed of one's daily life activities, such as the way of speaking, the way of behaving, and all daily movements. Guest guest
Thanks for the encouraging note Glen! I will stick it out and see what happens! I am sure it is OK if you are a " bad boy " sometimes Lyra > Hi All: > > For what it's worth, I have been on CEFTIN as my main antibiotic > during my entire treatment (from Nov., 1999) and also was on Doryx & > Mepron for a period of time. Guest guest
If it helps, my doctor gave me a morphine patch when I was on Ceftin. Guest guest
<< No, I'm not allergic to Rocephin at all. Don't know why I had a bad reaction to Ceftin, if they have similar properties. >> Hi I thought I was allergic to Ceftin when I took it way back in August of 1999. That was fairly soon after my diagnosis, and I felt awful. As it turns out I was not allergic to it, I was experiencing a herx from hell. I went back on Ceftin after a year + of other abx, and low and behold I wasn't allergic. My LLMD would not have even suggested Rocephen if I was allergic to Ceftin. Just thought I would share my experience. Jane
Guest guest
Thanks for the info, Rose. Where you on the shots or the IV rocephin? [ ] Re: Ceftin Hi Toni, No, I'm not allergic to Rocephin at all. Don't know why I had a bad reaction to Ceftin, if they have similar properties. Love ya, Rose From: " Toni Gray " <tgray@...> I was just wondering if those of you who are allergic to ceftin are allergic to rocephin? I am just curious because rocephin is a cephalosporin like ceftin. T.O.I.L. for Lyme! Guest guest
Hi Tony, I've been on both...initially on IV for only 28 days in 1995...the lifetime maximum my insurance would allow. (' insurance doesn't allow IV at all.) So, on shots periodically since then when the need arose. Love ya, Rose From: " Toni Gray " <tgray@...> Thanks for the info, Rose.
