RA comes in many different forms so it is

not possible to say what your disease will be like or what medications will

work for you. Methotrexate is probably the most common medication for RA

and for some it is effective in controlling the RA but for others different

medications work better. Few people recover fully from RA so that

they no longer need medications but most people are able to lead fairly normal

lives after they find the proper medication. While Methotrexate is

commonly used, it does cause birth defects so women of childbearing age often

do not use that. I don’t know that much about what RA medications

can be safely taken before conception, during pregnancy, or while

nursing. If you might want to have children you need that information

before trying to conceive.

Many people who take Methotrexate have

side effects of nausea, diarrhea, and mouth sores. These are usually

lessened by taking Folic Acid or a similar medication daily while taking

Methotrexate. I take 12.5 mg Methotrexate weekly and 1 mg Folic Acid daily.

Also Methotrexate injections usually cause fewer side effects than the pills

do. I suggest you check with your doctor about taking Folic Acid while

you are on Methotrexate.

Other RA medications include Plaquenil,

Sulfasalazine, Arava, and the biologics (Enbrel, Humira, Remicade, Kineret,

Orencia, and Rituxan). Here’s a link to a drug guide that gives

some information about a lot of RA drugs. http://www.arthritis.org/conditions/DrugGuide/index.asp

If you respond well to your medications

your joints will probably return to normal size but still hurt at least

occasionally, and joint erosion will be stopped or at least greatly

slowed. However, most RA medications take several weeks to several months

to become effective so you have to be patient waiting for the medications to

work. I hope you respond well to your treatment. God bless.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Subject:

Some Info

Hello,

I am Mostafa, 25 years old. I have been diagnosed of RA so recently. I

started to take medication since 1 month only.

My medication program is:

- 12.5mg of Methotrexate weekly.

- Vitamin B

- Mobic (pain killer, as far as I know)

I am in Egypt

and this disease is not very common. My question is if I follow this program,

my inflammed joints will come to normal again. Some joints are not in the

normal size.

I want to know some info, like if I follow the program stricly, this

will protect the other good joints or it has a probability of affecting new

ones.

Are there other better medications?

For medical info:

I have a weekly positive Rheumatoid Factor but strongly positive Anti

CCP.

Thank you very much,

Mostafa.

Dear Mostafa- log onto the arthritis foundation website for all the information on this disease. www.arthritisfoundation.org. Check into biologic medications which will stop its progression. MTX alone wont stop the damage and lowers your immune system but mainly to help biologics like Remicade and Humira work better. I am sorry you were diagnosed but today they have great medications that can bring your life almost back to normal. Yours, Deborah

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/ciencia/ciencia_monsanto22.htmcheck this out, this gotta be the sickest thing I have read all day.Back in 2004, farmer Kem Ralph served eight months in jail and was fined $1.3 million for lying about Monsanto cotton seeds he was hiding in his barn as a favor to a friend. They weren't even his seeds (yeah, that's what they all say!). By way of comparison, the fine in Ralph's home state of Tennessee for, say, cocaine possession, is $2,500.On the same pageOn January 15, the Obama Justice Department launched an anti-trust investigation against the corporate behemoth over its next generation of genetically modified "Roundup Ready" soybean seeds. The very next day, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear the case Monsanto v. Geertson Seed Farms, which challenges the safety of genetically modified agricultural products - the centerpiece of the Monsanto empire. If the investigation fails, farmers will have to switch over to the next

generation of Roundup Ready seeds in 2014. And the cycle of corporate abuse and monopolization will continue. Just plain sick! And looks like the supreme court of ours votes in likely hood of corporations ruling the day, just like now corporations can spend as much money on a campaign as they like, and

even foreign corporations are able to do this now.Our government in the USA is no government at all, it's a corporation, plain and simple folks, we no longer have a government!MicheleFrom: e Bonte <mbmasiba@...>Subject: [health] some info"natural remedies" <health >Date: Thursday, September 23, 2010, 6:47 AM

I came onto this site. Probably a lot of this has already been sent into this group, but I think it can never harm.
