Guest guest
I just saw the Inside Albany TV program. I is a PBS show seen weekly for many years. It reaches lower NY state. The show is also given on a Long Island station. It is a mainstay of PBS and seen by those who are most politically involved. The piece n Lyme was very good. It taled about the treatment controversy, put the spotlight on insurers and the OPMC as the " bad guys " . Pat was shown giving tesimony briefly. Dr. Liegner- a NY LLMD and - an Assembly member championing our cause- were interviewed at lenght. Both were excellent. A mild mannered, " nice " looking insurance rep was also showcased arguing for the other side. There was a brief testy exchange between Mr. and the insurance representative. The hosts of the show made comments favorable to the lyme community and they spoke of the disease spreading upstate as time passes. There was much talk about the State Halth Department and OPMC's controversial role. There was something to worry about. The hosts mentioned that there is some talk the Assembly may attempt to adopt a law similar to the one in Connecticut-where, to obtain treatment- a specialist- a neurologist, infectious disease expert, or rheumatologist must make the Lyme diagnosis. While this worked out ok for Connecticut- it would be disastrous in NY. Such talk first surfaced in a Poughkeepsie newsaper a few days ago. The show will be repeated tomorrow morning. You should all consider taping it. Copies can be obtained but I did not the phone #. They do have a website but I did not get that either. Inside Albany is given every Saturday at 1:30 so one could get the phone # and internet sit next week, uness someone has it and can post it. The entire segment lasted about 12 minutes. lymeactivist
