hi, Leon! and welcome aboard....I have had the numb leg since November. after 4 months, I gave in and saw my interist. he said it was sciatica. I have phys. therapy x2 week for 8 weeks. results=much less pain=hooray! then I was off to the orthopedic back specialist, who ordered a MRI. (and with two titanium hip replacements=no, I did not stick to the top of the machine!) = he ordered 4 trips to the Pain Clinic. the anesthesiologist there has given me epidural/steroid shots (x3, 2 weeks apart) directly into the lower spine. the initinal pain is almost gone, and I hope that wil be that......but is our back problem sufferer = hey, , did you go thru this? gentle hugs! Marcialcs249 <LCSnews@...> wrote: hi , Thanks for your several replies. My doc told me to take 4 ibuprofen three times a day as well for an odd symptom that he said was arthritis in the spine - when I stand for a long time ... such as when cooking or cleaning up after cooking, or even showering and shaving ... much of my outer right leg gets numb, and painful. Bizarre. Anyway, the ibuprofen and the glucosamine aren't doing the trick, so I've begun a search for a rheumatologist. best, Leon >> > I'm 57, I write for a living, and

Oh sorry Marcia I'm slow to catch on , No at one time I was concidering changeing drs to get them because theres only one in our area that do them or did at that time , but desided not to since he had a reputation of discarding patents after getting what he could from their insurance ,,, I don't see how this is possabe but I heard it from several people and was afraid to take a chance on him . And had not thought or had heard any more about it since but that could be my lack of attion allso

I don't have alot of child hood memories but don't seem to rememer any trouble past 27 yrs of age and much pain other than migrians past 1999 the migrians i sufferd all my life till I got high blood pressure and would up on ziaic ( might be misspelled ) for it which when the blood pressure problem resoled they tryed to whein me off it and my migriags came back so they put me back on it to controll those . Man just the releife of those was such a blessing .I had one to two weekly bad enought to sit in the dark and cry for death . LOLlcs249 <LCSnews@...> wrote: Mine is L3-L4. I've always had back issues - when I was a kid they called it lordosis. standing still (in shopping lines) is the absolute worst, and I can't lie on my back with legs straight out for more than minute. best, Leon > > > > >>>when I stand for a > > long time ... such as when cooking or cleaning up after cooking, or even > > showering and shaving ... much of my outer right leg gets numb, and > > painful. > > > > For me, this was a herniated disk, which still keeps me from standing > > or walking much even though PT has helped the pain.
