Guest guest
Laurie, was the say way!! She preferred to look one way, but had complete range of motion. Oddly enough as soon as we put her in the helmet that problem was finished (she was 9 months at the time). Now at 18 months we have no issues with that whatsoever! We never did any PT, but doesn't seem to have any residual issues so I don't really think it was tort. (I used to think that was what it was!) Let us know what you find out from your dr! Guest guest
Hi Laurie, My son Sam also showed a strong preference for looking to one side, but when the dr tested him out at about 5 months he seemed to have a full range of motion. The dr. said it wasn't tort. I still have my suspicions. He's almost two now, we never had a helmet and his head is still kinda flat. I'm still waiting for the "it'll round out on its own" to happen. I'll keep ya posted. smiles. Pamela in NY ----- Original Message ----- From: lm.dupre@... My girl rarely turns her head to the left but I know she is capable of doing so. She will be seeing her doctor earlier than September, although when I spoke to the doctor today, she said she thought she had checked my girl's neck for movement the last time she saw her. Guest guest
Laine, we do have a couple of people here who are using Humira or who have tried it in the past. If you don't get any responses (those few who are experienced with Humira may not be reading right now), you can do a search on " Humira " in the archives. You may find some posts from people in the group and what they're saying about it that way. Loved your " snow angels " story! Nice to have such a perceptive, kind son. Guest guest
Laine, So glad you had fun sledding! Sometimes it is good to forget about these diseases and do things that other take for granted. You'll chuckle about your ride for a long time. I haven't tried Humira, but others here have. Hopefully they will write about their experiences. a > Awhile ago someone on the list asked about Humira. Guest guest
I have a son with autism and apraxia/dyspraxia. Since starting VB my son's intelligibility has improved, but not because his articulation has improved. It's because he has a greater range of language to use to explain things. If I don't understand what he is saying, he often finds other words to restate himself. For example, this morning he was pointing to my husband's shirts in the closets and saying " cuya shoyts. " I knew it was something about shirts, but couldn't make out what " cuya " was. Then he said " daee's shirts a many cuyas " (Daddy'd shirts have many colors). I could at least figure it out through the context of what he was saying, since he was using more words. We haev a LONG way to go in terms of speech/articulation, but, overall, we have had great improvements in his functional communication skills since starting VB. Geraldine [ ] A question Hi all, I wanted to know as someone who is considering VB. My son who is Autistic and Apraxic and Aphasic can anyone tell me if it has done any good for their son or daughter in the same condition? My son is very strong visually but i have noticed that sign langauge has helped his verbal language alot. Thanks for your input!!! Guest guest
Faith, I still have pain when I am not flaring. It is a bit more managable, though. I don't know, maybe it's because I have gotten used to it. Especially after work. The pain is stronger and the fatigue is a bother. The hot tub helps sooooo much. It loosens those tense muscles and it also helps me to sleep. Of course, so do the pain meds. The meds are more effective then. It seems the pain is a little worse at night when I start to relax. Typical, huh?!?! But, when I get a flare, it puts the daily pain and fatigue into perspective. There is also a lot of daily stiffness. Again, hot water therapy is helpful there too. I also try to stretch a lot, like a cat. That helps as well, gets the circulation moving a bit especially if I have been sitting a while. Stretching helps before getting up....Hope it helps...Marina in Ohio --- In , " advoc84kids " <fmt2002@c...> wrote: > > Since I this is my first apparent flare episode of RA ( or possibly > lupus) flare..I have a question? > What is it like with RA ( or lupus) when you are not flaring? Guest guest
Can RA effect the spine? I know that because I am overweight my back can hurt. But I haven't gained any weight over the past year but I am getting more lower back pain. When I mention it to my doctor he says it's because I need to lose weight. Guest guest
even like when I had the duptryanes (Ug I cannot spell that word LOL) the few times, it hung around a day or 2 and then backed off, went to the other hand, and then backed off. ANd it was not all my fingers, it was diff fingers each time..... Now I did have this tall hard bony ridge grow on the top of one hand at base of the hand near wrist and that hung around many many months, it was not like the nodules I have had... and I had a nodule on an index finger for many months, a couple times too. Sure keeps me busy being creative, trying to figure out how to do things, LOL.....open the doors with this hand NO use that hand. go down stairs with this foot first NO go with the OTHER one first this time. Guest guest
I am very glad you were here, today, then. :-) When I have a good day, I still have very good days so those days I am busy trying to catch up, LOL. I get bored if I have a medium bad day where I am not so pain filled that I sleep or whatever, but I cannot do the things I want to do. On real bad days, I tend to sleep even more. I think it is my medium bad days when I end up here. ANd those are usually my more crabby kind of days. :-( SO, I think the ppl here see me at my worst attitude times. I just realized that. :-) SORRY EVERYONE! It is not intentional. I think on better days I try to tell myelf I do not have RA.so if I do not have RA, gosh, why would I come here? LOL.
