Guest guest
Playpup: I know that IGENE-X is an excellent lab for finding lyme. I had been tested 8 times in ten years and always came back " undetected " and the Lab was supposed to be one of the two best labs in the nation. When I found my wonderful LLMD, he did the ELISA, LUAT (urine test that IGENE-X does not use anymore, there is a newer one that is more accurate that is a urine test, though), IgG, IgM and a combined IgG & IgM . He also sent the very same blood and urine to the " other " lab that my doctors had used in the past. IGENE-X found that I was full of Lyme (I was bit in 1978 in TX - so I have had lyme laying dormant in my body for over 30 years!). The test results came back from the " other lab " and every test showed the lyme was " undetected " ! I had so many other symptoms and problems that are all lyme related at the time of this recent testing and then when I was started on oral abx, I immediately had horrible Herxing and still do (over 8 months now). I have been getting more abx orally slowly, but with great caution on the tissue and organ damage so that I am still unable to do much but go from the bed to the couch, maybe take a bath 1/5 days with the help of husband when he is home from his work where he has to travel alot.. My LLMD also just ran a Central Nervous System (CNS) and a Peripheral I think, but I do know that it refers to the brain) Nervous System (PNS) test through the AAL lab and it show the amount of damage that has been done by the lyme to your brain (PNS) and to your body (CNS). I wonder if the Clinic (A) would be willing to do this testing also for further proof of damage from the lyme? Also remember that like Deborah said, " what happened to the clinical diagnosis " , based on tests, physical and neuropsychological symptoms and especially if you do have a Herxheimer Reaction to the abx! If anyone is interested in the name of the " other lab " you can write to me directly, but I will not post it and slam anyone, but I sure have been frustrated by the fact that I could have been treated over 10 years ago if the lyme had been detected! Would the Clinic ( be able to verify why they used the tests that they did and why they believe that the tests are valid and should be taken into consideration? That might help your case further down the line. Also, you might be looking into some research studies that will do the testing, treatment and follow ups at no cost to you (like in NY city at Columbia University with Dr. Fallon in Neuropsychology. He is giving patients longer doses of IV abx to see if it shows better improvement in their health and cognitive or neuropsychological abilities. Remember though, that if you are in a research study and it is " double blind " , then you will not know if you are getting the drug until the end of the testing. Dr. Fallon does guarantee that if you are in the group without the IV abx, then when the study is over, you will receive the drug for the same duration as those who actually received the drug during the trials. Just a thought. They also help pay for travel and other expenses and all testing during this study if you qualify for the study. Can you qualify for Medicare/Medicaid, SSI through the Social Security Department, call Mental Health Mental Retardation (MHMR) and ask for a social worker to be assigned to your case to help you find any and all of the assistance available to you! Hope this helps! Write to me if you need anything else. They did not post your email address.
