Guest guest
No, they are not. Currently, that is the unfortunate truth. Is it inevitable? That will depend on several things. In the event you are not familiar with the current targets of the OPMC, I'll give you a brief update. Here in the Northeast, we presently have 2 Lyme literate medical doctors facing OPMC hearings. Their " crime " is that they continue to treat people with Lyme disease. How and why this began is better addressed from other sources (LDF website, and several individual sites found in a general search for " Lyme disease " ). Suffice it to say than anyone with this illness should familiarize themselves with the background of this political battle. I am here to provide the most recent information as it pertains to Dr. Horowitz, Dr. B., and how this may affect your ability to receive medical treatment. As you all know, Dr. B. is already engaged in the OPMC hearings for " overdiagnosing and overtreating " Lyme disease. You probably have also heard by now that Dr. R. Horowitz, after a two year investigation, has also been charged and begins his hearings very soon. He has lost his provider status with 2 major insurance companies, because he will not stop treating Lyme patients as he believes is medically necessary. Why is this important to me? For several reason. The lesser reason is that one is my physician. I know the hours, the effort, the stress, the research and the resistance they have had to endure. But that is only the beginning. I may not live in New York forever. If they should go down, where in this country will I find an MD who will be immune to this legal precedent? Nowhere. How strategically smart the opposing camp is to try and take out the forerunners, and have them declared guilty of overtreating and overdiagnosing. If that were to happen, the standard for the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme Disease would be forever altered. After all, what references could be cited as medically acceptable to do more than is currently described by Steere, et. al? Surely the recommendations of 2 fallen doctors will do little to influence the medical community. Then consider the more subtle yet persuasive message: if you treat Lyme more than recommended, we'll get you. Sounds a lot like a conspiracy (no, I'm not suffering from universal paranoia). What will your doctor be able to do? If they are incredibly brave (beyond the call of duty) they will continue to practice as they do now, and eventually follow the paths of their fallen colleagues. If they have any chance of keeping their practice so that they can continue their work, they will have to stop " overdiagnosing and overtreating. " No, your LLMD is not safe, therefore your treatment isn't secure. Keep following this down the line, and you might finally arrive at the same place I have. Not only is my doctor not safe, but nobody's physician is secure. And the cost? Doctors, treatment, hope of a cure, chance at having insurance be responsible to us, our health, our lives, and the health and lives of all others who do have or will have this disease. We need to get this information out. It will eventually effect you directly. Your are aware of the efforts made on Dr. B's behalf to collect fund for legal defense. It is now also being done for Dr. Horowitz. If you've already seen these messages, please be patient for those who haven't. Dr. H.'s situation is very critical. Please read the other posts (in January)on this board regarding Dr. Horowitz on this board. If you are interested in helping, please get the word out. He needs our financial support for his legal defense. If you have the desire to donate but don't have the means, there are many suggestions on how to do this in my former posts. I will answer any question I can, as quickly as possible. I thank you for taking the time to read this, and wish you good health. For Donations: Horowitz Legal Defense Fund (HLDF) c/o PO Box 410 Kinderhook, NY 12106 Sincerely, Regina neurochem1@...

Guest guest
Do the donations for the Dr H and Dr B defense funds goto the same place? Can I put them both in the same envelope, maybe one inside an envelope inside the 1st envelope? Oh god, I can't say what I want. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say? Thanks The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. C.
Guest guest
Yes, you can send TWO checks in the same envelope, to the same address. Send it to: Burrascano/Horowitz Legal Defense Fund BLDF c/o PO Box 410 Kinderhook, NY 12106 Be sure to make each check out to the two different funds. ALSO put in a quick letter explaining that there are TWO checks, one for each fund. I'm sure will be able to figure it out if you do all that. =) Robynn Re: [ ] Re: Is Your LLMD Safe......Dr. H Do the donations for the Dr H and Dr B defense funds goto the same place? Guest guest
Actually, to be over anal about the situation, the address SHOULD be: Burrascano/Horowitz Legal Defense Funds C/O PO Box 410 Kinderhook, NY 12106 =) Robynn Re: [ ] Re: Is Your LLMD Safe......Dr. H Yes, you can send TWO checks in the same envelope, to the same address. Guest guest
Dear , Yes, they both go to , but they will need to be separate checks. One to HDLF, the other to BDLF, and I would mark on the envelope " 2 enclosures " so that will alert her attention. Thank you for adding your support to our doctors, and all that doing this means. Send to: HLDF and BLDF c/o PO Box 410 Kinderhook, NY 12106 Sincerely, Regina neurochem1@... > Do the donations for the Dr H and Dr B defense funds goto the same place? > Can I put them both in the same envelope, maybe one inside an envelope > inside the 1st envelope?
