Guest guest
Scarlet fever comes from the strep bacteria (I think) and Mono is thought to be from the Herpes Virus family Once you have EBV your tests will always show that you had it. But it shouldn't reactivate in your body. Your immune system keeps it in check...supposedly. Now they think EBV is responsible for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia symptoms too. I think the Lyme Bacteria left untreated knocks down your immune system in a major way, possibly allowing for some level of reactivation of the EBV or HV6. The trouble is, we all have had these viruses in our life, it and it's tough to know what testing results mean from one person to the next. There is no standard to show how high an antibody count has to be before we know we are being sick from these viruses again. There are lots of theories out there about this subject. Before I was finally diagnosed with Lyme, I was told that I had both Epstein Barre and Herpes Virus 6 reactivation and that my immune system was responding big time. Now I know my immune system was active alright, it was fighting off Lyme, and the HV6 and EBV started to flourish under the struggle of it all. My doctor would have been happy to leave it that I had chronic fatigue because of Epstein Barre and HV6 - which is the virus discovered in brain lesions of dead MS patients. It was my allergist who ordered the LUAT and Western Blot, after I asked about Lyme possibilities. I think a good Lyme doctor would agree that getting rid of the bacterial infection allows the body to deal with latent viruses. Thanks, Tamara B. Guest guest
Dear Madeline, Have you ever been tested for H. Pylori Heliobactor infection in your gut? This can cause lots of stomach and digestive problems and is treated with antibiotics. Tamara

This, too, can be the cause for stomach problems. Any chills? fevers? night sweats? just a possibility. sue in nj

Guest guest
Dear Rita, I agree that underlying bacterial infections (possibly many different types) are the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. I had a friend who had Chronic Fatigue diagnosed, and wouldn't buy that diagnosis...and treated herself with some tetracycline after 3 years of struggle. After 3 weeks she felt wonderful, no more fatigue, stomach problems, aching, etc...an amazing recovery. My doctor tried to diagnose me with it, but I know too much to accept it as a diagnosis all it's own...I always believed there was more to my condition than Chronic Fatigue. There had to be a reason...and in my case it was Lyme. I don't think medical science has caught up with these possibilities for the general population yet. And we women seem to get relegated to the " you're not sick enough to have Lyme disease " corner. These are my doctor's words from a year ago. And my health went drastically downhill after that. He kept saying my life was stressful (it isn't) and that I'm Type A and overdid it (I'm not and didn't). In fact, I wasn't working at all this year other than taking care of my family and volunteering at things I enjoy and consider valuable. I never whined about my condition...I guess I should have taken that up...maybe then he would have believed that I was really unwell and needed treatment. Best regards, Tamara Bolthouse

Guest guest
Before I found out that I had Lyme Disease, I was told I had Fibromyalgia. Then after I was treated with the so called 4 weeks of antibiotics, and I was not better, then I was told I have CFS. Give me a break, It's Lyme. Atleast in my case. I would not be a bit supprised if they found out that CFS and Fibromyalgia were indeed Lyme Disease! Kim S. Kim Sakowicz <kimsak2000@...> wrote: I agree with you! Kim S. Guest guest
Dear--- " Tamara A. Bolthouse " <1tab@...> > Your information on the relationship between lyme disease and similar diseases is very interesting. I found from my m.d. that some of these diseases are actually originating from organisms that are the cross between a virus and a bacterial infection. From the way you write, it is evident that you have some medical background or have done a lot of studying. It seems that we are able to do quite a lot in spite of Lyme disease, or any other illnesses. And I know that " human spirit is indominable " if it is just given a chance. Thank God for Truman Capote! LaurettaLowell@... > > > > __________________________________________________
