Guest guest
Hi Joanna, What form(s) of communication does your son use most? PECS, sign, gesture, other? Have you consider a communication device like Dynavox? Some individuals have increased their speech after having begun using a Dynavox. In MA one can borrow them from Easter Seals for a trial. Some insurance will pay for communication devices with paperwork from doctor and SLP. Does he like music? Have you tried any of the music for speech CDs like Kids Express Train? > > Dear All, > > I just came back from our yearly neurologist check up and he shocked me when he told me that " the fact that your son does not have language by now-age 7, means he has a minimal chance of ever speaking. > > My son says like 20 words but is it true that beucse he was not " spoken " full sentences or at least 3-4 words together, that he has minimal chance of speaking ? > > Did anyone on this group have full speech after 7 years of age ?? > > Disillusioned and Sad, > Joanna >
