Guest guest
Jean! Yes! I have a very strong opinion. First of all they are synthetic, and I believe there is no way to reproduce that " spark of life " via petro-chemicals. I am chemically sensitive and view my self as a " canary " ...you know, the birds they sent into the coal mines to see whether they died or not so they would know if it was safe for humans to go down there? If I took these vitamins for a period of time they'd make me extremely sick. So I , or course, feel that they are poison. I also feel that the majority of people's health problems today are because of toxicity. I have some to this conclusion after 18 years of experience seeing people miraculously heal when they got petroleum derived chemicals out of their bodies. These vits are petrochemically derived. Then there is the political side of it....the chemical companies who make these types of vitamins are the same ones making the poisons we can't get away from and lying about them to make money, not caring at all about who they kill or damage. The Billl Moyers special on TV a few weeks ago did an excellent job of bringing this out into the open. When a person purchases these vits. they are supporting these companies. Do some of their products do some good? Of course! But if you research out some of the serial killers, like Ted Bundy, you will find they did some good too. Strong opinion? Yes, but under the circumstances I believe justifiably so. My advice? Throw them out, go to a health food store and get on something that has the capacity to do what it is suppose to do :-) gemno@... wrote: > I<< Is there a really good multi-vitamin to take daily? Guest guest
I am reading a great book about chronic fatigue.. by Dr. Teitelbaum. He recommends Twin Labs Daily One caps with iron. I've been taking them and they seem to give me a bit more energy. KAT Re: Multi-Vitamin I<< Is there a really good multi-vitamin to take daily? Guest guest
I was a patient of Dr. Teitelbaum's for over 2 years. I didn't improve on his program for cfs. The program uses a lot of prescription drugs--for stimulating adrenals, for fibromyalgia, for sleep. I think they do more harm than good. Since he uses prescription drugs, it's not surprising that he'd recommend commercial supplement preparations--and he does. You can even buy them at his office--at least you could when I was a patient. The program also cost several thousand dollars, a lot of which wasn't covered by my insurance as they considered it above the reasonable and customary charges for those services. Guest guest
Just want to say again, that if your vitamins are not derived from food/living things, then they are artificial, even if they are labeled natural. If they are USP, then they are from petroleum. And, remarkably they can make you feel better, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is good. I took usp vits for years and I am pretty sure that is part of what set me up for cfs. Coffee makes you feel good short term, but that doesn't mean it is good for you. Sugar also increases your energy, but it tears down your system. USP vitamins are similar. they can drive the body and give you an increase in energy, but it isn't necessarily a good thing. I prefer the stuff that God makes to the stuff that man makes. Juice Plus, Bee Pollen Chlorella Royal Jelly Wheat sprouts dried and capped Barley Juice Powder etc. These all have vitmines that are naturally occuring and your body was made for the real things these provide. Just my opinion Donna Re: Multi-Vitamin I was a patient of Dr. Teitelbaum's for over 2 years. I didn't improve on his program for cfs. Guest guest
I don't agree with the very strong stance of the writer at the bottom, but I subscribe to the idea that natural is better. Not necessarily because the individual natural vitamin by itself is that much better than the synthetic, but because of the complexity factor. Our bodies thrive on complexity, being a part of the infinitely complex natural order. When taking the products mentioned by Donna below, we not only get the particular vitamin/mineral/active substance we are looking for, but an infinite complexity of synergistic cofactors. I think you are absolutely right. Sometimes, we need to see it on paper before we realize what is the best thing to do. Do you have a specific suggestion for a natural brand in the health food store? I will also try to buy the items mentioned by Donna. They sound good to me too. Jean
Guest guest
Hello I find that Enzymatic Therapy products are all very high quality. For minerals, " TaceMinerals " . We use a lot of flower essences, essential oils (make sure they are pure and therapeutic quality) and homeopathy too. It sounds like not only is Donna very knowledgeable, but she cares (thus has the correct intent) and I would trust the products she carries also. In my healing and that of my children I found that taking good quality supplements is imperative. We still do a lot of them. Have tried stopping over periods of time, but definitely did not feel or function as well as when we take them. Colostrum is something I take on a regular basis too, I think it was Donna who mentioned it. There is a lot of wonderful stuff out there these days. gemno@... wrote: > In a message dated 5/4/01 5:28:34 AM Eastern Daylight Time, roxendal@... > writes: > > << When taking the products mentioned by Donna below, we not only get the > particular vitamin/mineral/active substance we are looking for, but an > infinite complexity of synergistic cofactors.>> > > Donna skrev: > > > I agree with here. Guest guest
Make sure there is no iron in your multi vitamin...and A is okay under 10000u's...any more than that causes liver damage. Guest guest
Thanks Tat I lowered my dose of Vit. C to 500...but I smoke (yah I know) and I still drink my tea...so I can safely up to 1000mg again? Good, what about Vit. E? Any thoughts on that....I was taking 800mg daily...but read that overdosing on Vitamins isn't good so dropped that to 400mg. Should I up it, or leave it at 400? Guest guest
A and D are ok in normal amounts, just not in the mega-amounts found in some vitamins. Your body still needs these things, just not in too large amounts. 1000mg of C is not too much to take. Besides, it's water soluable, so if you take too much you will pretty much just pee it out. Guest guest
Hi e I always thought that decaffinated tea was that yuckie herbal tea that I don't like the taste of. I didn't know I could buy decaf tea, so will look into that. You can tell I don't do the grocery shopping around this house LOL. Thanks e. Guest guest
We use Gilliam's Liquid Organic Vitamins (Swanson & Vitacost both carry it). Great list of ingredients. We are, for the 1st time, getting our 13 yo dd to swallow pills. She has high anxiety & gets hysterical over things. We finally began FORCING her about 6 wks ago (won't go into the long story why). We began with smaller capsules and I just stood in front of her until it was down. She couldn't leave the counter. Lots of drama, lots of time, but now, she's up to a medium size capsule down the hatch in about 10 seconds. Hate to admit to bribing, but bribed with some big privileges. Nothing others suggested ever worked. She already used straws, didn't care for the pudding, etc, technique. They say to pick your battles and don't pick one you don't intend to win. I decided to pick this one with losing not being an option. She does not balk at it now and no more scenes over it. Blessings on your efforts, > > Need your best recommendation for mutivitamins or mineral formulas and the like for my daughter. Need a liquid I can mix with juice because pills have never worked.
