Charlotte,

anxiety and panic has been one of my most horrible problems, and alot of

mine seems to be lyme related but in the back of my head i wonder if its

just lyme. my doc put me on biaxin as well, knowing full well that one of my

biggest problems is panic and anxiety. and of course my first herx on biaxin

an dplaquenil made my anxiety magnified one hundered billion times even

more. i wonder the same thing. now im on tetr. as you know also.

, I'm going to see my doc next Monday and will ask him about Biaxin and

panic. I wonder if there is another drug that could be substituted for

Biaxin for people who have history of panic disorder. He knew that I'm being

treated for it, and he never mentioned that my panic might increase! Grrrrr!

Hi Harper & All,

I can relate to all that you are saying. I have been lingering here for a

long time. I used to post quite a bit, but I gained so much from the

information provided. I was formally diagnosed in 7/00 with AIH. Had

symptoms since 11/99. My GI sent the biopsy to a hepatologist at s

Hopkins in Baltimore, and they do not necessarily agree with the docs at

Frederick Memorial Hospital where I had the biopsy. My LFTs were running

quite high. I was put on Prednisone, but it turns out I am allergic to it.

(Doc says that is rare.) I was recently in the hospital for an ERCP. They

said I have gastritis, chronic active hepatitis, pancreatitis, etc. Three

weeks after being in the hospital, I had my LFTs done as well as a 5-hour

Glucose Tolerance Test. Well, the LFTs came back NORMAL (the first time in

many months). I saw my GI and he said everything looked good... I am in

remission. He told me to be grateful. Okay, I'm grateful.

Today, I had to visit my primary care doctor for sinusitis. He asked me if I

had been to the hepatologist consult yet! All I said was " WHAT " ? All the

reports that my GI sent down to my PC said I was to have a consultation with

a hepatologist. Now they don't know if I have AIH or steatosis. I was

dumbfounded. The doc made copies of all the reports -- I think I was misled

(I hate to say a doctor lied to me). No mention of all my stomach problems,

liver problems, etc., was made. I am absolutely dumbfounded. I called my

GI, and, gee, he's on vacation. I told them to pull my chart -- I WILL talk

to him on Monday when he returns.

My primary care said I really need to know what I am dealing with. The

problem, he said, is that I am allergic to prednisone -- one of the primary

meds for AIH. He also said most of the drugs to treat AIH are toxic to the

liver. I am so confused -- where do I go from here?

I look great (at least that's what everybody tells me). I don't have

jaundice -- yet. I don't even know what or who to believe right now. I get

tired very easily. I had to withdraw from school. The doc did say, though,

that my crushed foot has nothing to do with the liver. I crushed it under a

500-pound food cart at the nursing home where I worked. Now I am a candidate

for permanent disability. I'm not thinking straight right now -- this has me

baffled. Now there is mention of liver transplant -- not right now, but

later. I have followed all my diets to the letter, and I just don't know

what to think. Any comments would be welcome.

Robin, how infuriating! How outrageous! Yeah, it's time to lean hard.

As for "mention of liver transplant -- not right now, but later." My personal opinion isn't too get too worked up over that -- yet. My LiverDoc (gastroenterologist) says I'm doing extremely well (with AIH, 5/00). He adds, "Of course, you might need a transplant in ten years . . ." My jaw dropped, as he'd just been telling me I was in great shape. That may be just a "cover your ass" statement they throw in. He doesn't seem to regard the possibility, down the line, as any big deal. (My small voice says "I do.")

I'm so sorry that you had to withdraw from school. If you're going to try for permanent disability, don't dally. The process can be very slow.

As I've stated before here, my daughter has very severe chronic fatigue syndrome, which has relatively little to do with fatigue. She succeeded in getting disability coverage after three years of efforts. Here's the important part: she worked with a for-profit disability advocate group called Alsup and feels she wouldn't have succeeded without their support and guidance. Hi Robin,

I'm curious-what were the differing opinions after the biopsy? Have

you been tested for Hep C? I ask because I was diagnosed with both in

the mid-eighties and have not been on any meds. They just said they

wanted to monitor me & that eventually I would be a candidate for

transplantation. I am at the doctor alot for sinusitis & rhinitis (I

wonder if the meds I took over the years for that might have

triggered the AIH...) MY LFT have been in the normal range or 2-3

times normal & most of the time I am going full throttle 7 days a

week on little sleep in a stressful job. Sometimes I have what I call

a relapse-fatigue, joint pain, etc.

Hope you find some good info on your medical dilemma!

Hi Deb,

Welcome to LL!!! I just can't wait for you to get your videos!!! They

come really quick, probably within the week. Which ones did you order?

Let me tell you a little about my situation. First of all you and I are

the same height. I still feel like I would like to lose about 10 lbs but

because of LL I am wearing a 6/8, and still weigh 135. I started out with

BF and had to quit because of the strain on my shoulders. That and the fact

that it was so loud that I felt like I had to close myself up in a room so

as not to disturb the neighbors. LOL! Then I found Oxycise and never could

figure that one out. Someone on the BF list told me about LL and I ordered

it. About the best thing I can say about LL is that it has truly changed my

life. I am 54 and look better than I did at 30. Even though I still need

to lose a few lbs, (love to eat and have thyroid troubles making it near

impossible) my muscles are firm and tight, and my lungs are so strong athat

even going to the mountains, I can trudge up a hill and never breathe hard.

That to me is worth it all. I! know that I am doing something not only for

the outside of my body but also getting oxygen to all my cells, making them

clean and healthy.

I am sure you will hear from our wonderful Rashelle, the creator of LL and

by the way, taught Greer Childers of BF how to breathe, she is an active

part of this list and we all call her mom and love her with all our hearts.

I called and left my order over the phone. Did not talk to a live

person, just left message. Could anyone tell me how long it usually

takes to get your order? I have the bodyflex program and oxycise. I

like bodyflex but have not done it for awhile. After reading about

lifelift I decided to give it a try. Maybe I can stick with it!! I

have rheumatoid arthritis which is under control with meds. I have

gone from a 6/8 to 10/12 over the last few years. I am only 5'2 " so

I look pretty big. I would like to lose 20-25 lbs. to ease the

pressure on my joints. I am looking forward to being a part of this

list.

Hi ,

I normally have in mind which exercises/ stretches that I'm going to do

and I usually do 5 of ea. unless I have to do one side than the other,

like legs, than it's 10 of that exercise. If I don't remember in my head

how many I did I write down the exercises and the amount that I did and

add them up.

Cortisol seems out...this is a stress hormone......

The Growth Hormone means nothing as the only way to categorize HGH is with a

stimulatory test,

Somatomedin C is borderline High.....

If your Endo had any interst in you as his /her patient) (or funding) he

/she might like to do stimulatory testing on

the T HPTA axis, in addition to adrenal tests and Pituitary tests to look at

other Pituitary hormones.

What is your Blood glucose doing, best time to measue blood glucose is first

thing in a morning

befor you eat anbything, you can buy a blood glucose monitor very cheaply to

do this your self

Anything below 6 is a reasonably good fasting blood glucose, around 4 - 5

would be better but

depends on the individual.....yo should aim for what feels good for you so

anythnig below 6...

Most of your readings are 'normal' IE nothing that Jumps out, except the

Somatomedin C but his

could be for a number of reasons.....

Have you had 'Panic attacks',

Blood tests, when they do not Jump out at you can often provide clues to

target further testing to try to

find the root cause.

Unfortunately, the cost of further testing HPTA, Pituitary hormones,

Adrenal hormones may put him off doing further testing

The fasting blood glucose you can buy the meter yourseslf to test for

that......

Banana Nut Ice

2 frozen bananas (very ripe)

4 pitted prunes

1/4 tsp. vanilla

6 almonds

1 Tbl. honey

Blend all of the ingredients in food processor until you get the consistency of frozen yogurt.

makes 2 servings

*Cherry Vanilla Almond Ice Cream

*Yield: 5 cups (6 servings)

2 cups almonds, soaked 6 to 8 hours, rinsed, and drained (see note)

2 cups purified water

1 1/2 cups cashews, soaked 4 hours, rinsed, and drained

1 cup agave nectar

2 1/4 teaspoons psyllium powder

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 vanilla bean, soft center only (see note)

Pinch of solar-dried sea salt

2 pints frozen cherries, rough chopped

1. Blend the almonds with the purified water in a high-powered blender to

make a thick almond cream. Strain the mixture through a cloth mesh bag, and

store the pulp for another recipe.

2. Blend the almond cream with the cashews and other remaining ingredients

until smooth and creamy.

3. Pour the blended mixture into a 9 by 9-inch glass baking dish or other

shallow glass container, and cover tightly. Freeze for at least four hours,

before stirring in the frozen cherries. Return to the freezer and continue

freezing for another 8 to12 hours, or until firm. Serve with an ice cream

scoop. If the ice cream is too hard, let it thaw for 5 to 10 minutes before

scooping.

4. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.

Carob fudge fondue Serves 3-4

1 c raw almond butter

3/4 c dates, pitted and blended with 1/4 c water to a paste.

1 t vanilla bean minced

1 c carob powder, (for a chocolate, simply substitute 1/2 c carob and 1/2 c

chocolate powder, which is not a raw product)

1 c filtered water

Select sliced fruits, apples, strawberries, bananas, pears etc.

In high speed blender, place all ingredients in and blend well until smooth.

It may be difficult to blend at first so add more water to make the job easier

on your blender.

Serve with select sliced fruits. Also is a great cake frosting. Be careful

with this one, it is truly a divine decadence.

Serves 4

3 c wild rice soaked for 3-5 days rinsing twice a day

1c avocado diced

2 T lemon juice

3 T basil chiffonade (shredded)

T chives minced

1/2 c tomato seeded and diced

1/2 c celery diced

2 1/2 T flax oil

t Celtic salt

1/2 t cayenne

When rice has 'split' and become fluffy it is ready to use.

In medium mixing bowl toss all ingredients together, massaging while mixing

to create 'creamy' consistency.

Will keep for up to 3 days in fridge.

“The Raw-Vegan Recipe to Make Whenever You Want to Impress Your Friends, Date, Family, or Simply When You Want to Eat a Completely Satisfying Raw Gourmet Meal.”

For this recipe, you will need:

- dried nori sheets

- raw almonds

- carrots

- lemons

- green onions

- whole dulse or dulse powder (can be replaced by sea salt)

- zucchini

- sprouts (optional)

- avocado (optional)

To make it really tasty, you will also need one or more of the following:

- sun-dried tomatoes

- pickled ginger from the health food store

- olives

- fermented vegetables from the health food store

- wasabi from the Asian market

I'll explain what the ingredients are and how they are used. I'll also give you different options to make the recipe, depending on your preferences.

But first, you'll have to make the PATE:

ALMOND CARROT PATE

For the basic recipe (double or triple the recipe according to your needs):

1 cup almonds, dry*

2-4 medium carrots

The almonds should be soaked 8 hours in water, or over night. What you'll need to do after is homogenize the carrots and almonds to create a pâté. The best way to do this is to use a Champion juicer or Green Life juicer (or other similar juice) with the blank plate on. Alternate between carrots and almonds. You may also use a food processor or even a blender (more difficult). The idea is to achieve a nice pâté consistency.

Note: the more carrots you use, the more “juicy” and less fatty the pâté will be. The more almonds you use, the more fatty and rich it will be. It depends on your preference.

When you have the pâté ready, add to this mixture:

- 1 lemon (juice of)

- 3-5 green onions, chopped fine

- Dulse powder or whole dulse (briefly rinsed) to taste*

* Dulse is a sea vegetable. You can find it most health food stores. It will give the pâté a more salty and “fishy” flavor, which in what we're after. I suggest using 2-4 tablespoons of dulse powder. If dulse isn't available, use some sea salt.

THE VEGGIES AND CONDIMENTS

What we'll do in the next step is assemble our sushi. But first we want to prepare in separate bowls everything that will go in it. So we already have our pâté prepared and mixed in a bowl.

Here's what I recommend that you prepare in the other bowls:

- Grated zucchini (simple grate 2-4 zucchini in a bowl)

- Sprouts (alfafa, clover, etc.) or lettuce

- Sun-dried tomatoes (a big handful, soaked)

- Olives (diced) or fermented veggies from the health food stores*

- Bowl of water

* Certain health food stores sell fermented vegetables (not sauerkraut) such as fermented beets, fermented carrots, etc. They go well in sushi.

You'll also have ready: wasabi from the Asian market (they sell it in toothpaste-looking containers and yes, it's full of chemicals, but we'll only use a tiny bit). You could also use miso from the health food store (an Asian condiment). Also have 1 ripe avocado, ready to use.

ASSEMBLING THE SUSHI

Set up your working space, with a cutting board facing you, and all the bowls within easy accesse. On a dry board, place one sheet of nori, horizontally facing you.

- Spread a couple of spoonfuls of pâté on the horizontal half of nori facing you. Spread evenly. (Do not put too much pâté. Just a thin, but nice spread)

- Add a quarter of avocado, in pieces

- Add a thin layer of grated zucchini.

- Add a little bit of sprouts, or lettuce

- Add few pieces of sun-dried tomatoes (soaked)

- Add a little bit of fermented veggies or olive pieces (this step is optional)

- Spread a very thin (VERY thin) tiny line of wasabi on the other half of the nori sheet, right in front of the pâté. Alternatively, use some miso.

Now, roll the sushi like a cigar. To seal the sushi, put a little water on the edge before you finish rolling it. Cut into small, bit-sized pieces with a sharp knife. Rinse your knife between each cut. Cut very slowly to avoid tearing the nori.

VARIATIONS:

The variations on this recipe are endless. Often, I'll make two versions. One for myself (without the wasabi, miso, olives or salt) and one for my guests. You can also make a totally hygienic one without seaweed, condiments and avocado.

TIPS:

- Do not put too much stuff in each roll. Find the ideal proportions.

- Make different rolls. In some, add extra wasabi, or only use a certain combination of ingredients and condiments.

- It's not necessary to serve the Sushi with soy sauce, but if your guests are used to that, you could have a little bowl of soy sauce for them to dip their sushi in.
