Guest guest
Our family cabin has cork flooring. It is really nice looking, and seems durable with all the sand and foot/paw traffic it sees every summer. Knowing my father in law, who installed it, he used the most toxic substance known to man. It also appears to have a gymnasium quality finish. Still, I love the look. Installation was easy. I would put it in our home. Bamboo, too. Working on that one with my hsuband! Guest guest
We installed cork flooring and I really like it. We used a plank type of cork that did not require any adhesive--it is called a free-floating floor (or something similar). My husband installed it and was happy with how it went down--if we had our house to do over, I would have used it in more rooms than we did. It is comfortable underfoot, looks nice, and seems to be holding up to kids and pets well so far. One thing to be careful about is (if I remember correctly from when we were shopping for flooring, though it might just be relevant to bamboo and other wood floors) some cork floor planks may have a surface coating that contains aluminum oxide, similar to many parquet type wood floors, so you may want to be sure you are getting a type that does not have that sort of coating--it doesn't wear very well among other concerns. The mfrs of course say it is totally safe for humans and poses no health dangers, but we have all heard that before. Sue > > Anyone who has or has installed cork flooring? How do you like it?
