Guest guest
My son had some routine bloodwork today and I am surprised at his sed rate levels. They have never been out of range before, this is what is out of range on his tests. Sed rate is 42 (range is < or = 15) wow, this is HIGH then! Yikes! Red blood cell count 3.84 (range 3.9-5.5) MCV 89.7 (range 73-87) MCH 30.9 (range 24-30) Absolute monocytes 1107 (range 200-900) B12 1301 (250-1205) Didn't expect this!! Lead is <3 with a range of <5 so not over the range, but still showing as some lead, right? I would expect this since we are chelating. Has anyone experienced these kind of results before? I am relieved to see his platelets are down, they were highly elevated for a few tests in a row about 5-6 months ago. But now this...(sigh). Do we have to worry about arthritis or something similar....is it possible that this is transient? Also, does anyone know why his B12 would be HIGH? I expected it to be low. Guest guest
When my mother had a bout of a type of arthritis, her sed rate was 100 at one point. I don't know how that compares to values in children. B12 could be high if you are supplementing B12 and/or if there is an issue with utilizing B12, I believe. Without symptoms, I'm not sure you should be worried about arthritis (but I'm no rheumatologist). I wrote this in another post today, but apparently being anemic can cause the sed rate to increase. Not sure by how much, or how anemic you actually have to be to affect it. Pam > > My son had some routine bloodwork today and I am surprised at his sed rate levels.
