Guest guest
You can expect to have some digestive issues if you had them before and some behavioral issues, too, most likely. You have to remember that you are inducing mercury and lead poisoning in a small child. I did my first round with Zoe this past weekend and we had some huge steps backward for a few days, but today she was back to her sweet little self. As you progress in the program, you will find that the symptoms become less and less. I used a half of the dosage recommended by DAN because of fear of side effects. My fears were well founded, so it seems. If you would like to contact me tomorrow, I will be in the office. I may have an appointment going on when you call, but I DO return my calls. Jeff Cunningham, DC www.zoesplaceclinic.com , TX chelation question I am getting ready to start chelation at the CARE clinic in Austin on Monday. It will be our first go around. I am having second thoughts on starting my son on chelation just from things I have heard and read, probably not from very good sources though, I am afraid. This group seems very positive on the biomedical approach, so if anyone has any advice on what to expect, any side effects, problems they have had with their children, please share. Also, what kind of improvements have you seen in your children? My 4 y/o son has PDD-NOS and is high functioning. He has great eye contact and speech but has a lot of difficulty in other areas, such as social, gastrointestinal and fine motor skills. I have heard that many people have seen improvements with chelation but never how long it took. I am looking forward to learning more about chelation. Thanks so much. Guest guest
I would advise you to make sure that the doctor runs a CBC test to check neutrophil/polys count and liver function before starting. The rare cases I've heard about where kids have had major problems with chelation were due to it lowering neutrophil/poly counts or messing up liver function. Ruling out problems beforehand would be wise. Also, be sure not to go too fast and remineralize after each round. Make sure the doctor you use has a lot of experience chelating kids and is very careful to ensure that the proper medicine is used. What form of chelator are you using? It took just under four years for my son and I to complete chelation. We had a clear exposure to arsenic, along with high levels of mercury, lead and aluminum. It was a slow process that we took regular breaks from. Our overall health improved greatly, major lessening of sensitivities both sensory and with food/environmental reactions. We both can think much clearer now and most of the memory problems are gone. Additionally, my son's gut is almost entirely healed, regular seizures are completely gone and he is quite verbal and mostly focused. He has also branched out the foods he will eat enormously. He was extremely low functioning at your child's age with no language. Now, he can blend in fairly well with typical kids a bit younger than him but does still have learning, social and motor challenges. Guest guest
Diane, I know the CARE clinic runs these tests and others to test kidney function. They treat thousands of kids with chelation they know what they are doing and we have had some side effects but these are mostly related to the toxins coming out. Nothing behaviorally more things like rashes, and spikes in strep, yeast and herpes simplex 6 that are controlled with Valtrex and Nystatin occasionally. This is our 3rd year of chelation and I expect another year possibly as we just started pulling more mercury and lead again. My son before chelation did not sleep without clonidine, he was so hyper he needed half a dose of Clonidine twice during the day. He took 75mg of Zoloft to smooth his anxiety, he only ate 6 foods, he was not potty trained completely, he had little speech which was mostly to stim verbally, his stims interfered with his motor skills and made him stand out like a sore thumb everywhere we went. He could not sit in a classroom for more than 15 minutes. He was in a Autism class 95% of his day. He did not socialize with his siblings, he lined up tracks of trains all day and rewound video tapes. He had poor eye contact, He was not affectionate, He was in his own world and taking him anywhere was extremely stressful for him. Today we are on our annual cross country trip in our RV. My funny little boy eats like a horse, is totally potty trained, graduated from the Autism class to full inclusion with an aide next year, nearly passed the TEKS M test on the first try, his speech is still limited to wants and needs but he finishes jokes and can ask people to play. Matt can now also control his stims they are down 90%. We are totally off all RX drugs and hyperactivity is manageable with GABA. He does not run away, he helps in the grocery store, he enjoys going places, he's adaptable, he's funny, he's affectionate, he's curious, he plays video games and computer games and loves You Tube. He's also learning to letterboard his thoughts and ideas with Soma at HALO and he's really amazing with this new skill and that has helped him academically. His color is better he's no longer so pale. His fine motor skills are better and his handwriting improved. We went on a Lobster boat ride recently and if you didn't know he had autism you never would have guessed, I've even stopped telling tour guides because I'm afraid he'll wonder why I need to mention it to everyone. Grin. I know it's hard to do something like this especially when there is so much pro and con out there in computer land. But take it from an old warrior this is the best most comprehensive thing I have every done for this child, if it can help you one tenth as much as it has helped my son I'd encourage you to do it. I love the CARE clinic I love Kazuko and her passion and I know they will treat you with respect and caution. No one is perfect but they try very hard over there to make sure the kids have a chance and getting better. Don't be too afraid to try and do what they tell you don't skip a step or miss a mineral it's all interconnected and it's all important. Guest guest
Follow your instincts. I think the reason most of us are in this mess is that we didn't question authority and we followed the herd ignorning instincts we had. Chelation is part of our son's recovery but I feel that every step has a time and place. We can look at data and patterns to try to determine good times to do interventions like Hbot, or chelation, but I have learned to follow my gut. If it feels like the wrong time it probably is. However it is a job figuring out the difference between fear and instincts. Chelation is safe when done safely. Mom to mom......follow your gut and trust that. > > You can expect to have some digestive issues if you had them before and some behavioral issues, too, most likely. Guest guest
Thank you all for your help. We are headed to the CARE clinic in the morning to start chelation. His lead came back so severe, among other test results. He really needs these metals removed. We are excited to go forward and everyone at the CARE clinic seem so knowledgeable and I trust them that I believe everything will turn out okay. Subject: Re: chelation question To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Date: Sunday, July 13, 2008, 6:15 PM I would definitely recommend chelation - we are treating our 5 yr old at the Thoughtfulhouse in Austin and have seen some good improvements since starting in January. Guest guest
Their reports are amazing. They have done their work to carefully edit the correct information in the reports. It is not someone's opinion, it is facts that they have put together. We just haven't had time to make our appointment yet. We've had another major illness in our family that won't let us make the time to go there. > > > > Thank you all for your help. We are headed to the CARE clinic in > the morning to start chelation. His lead came back so severe, among > other test results. He really needs these metals removed. We are > excited to go forward and everyone at the CARE clinic seem so > knowledgeable and I trust them that I believe everything will turn out > okay. > > > > Our experiences out at the CARE clinics has been wonderful. > NEVER EVER hesitate on asking any questions, they will come through. > If it had not been for them, my son's health would of continued > deteriorating. > Make sure to purchase one of those huge 3-ring binder with some of > those Poly Sheet Protectors to store all the reports that you will > receive when you have a chance. > Best wishes towards y'all's journey on this road. > > Irma >

We did a hair analysis about aug 2009.He does not fall within the counting rule, but is very high in nickle, moderatly high in titanium, barium, and aluminum. We saw high positive gains with what we implemented but, he remains to have huge OCD,tantums and fixations. He is not doing well in his new kindergarden. I am wondering if chelation will help?Any advice would be great. I am currently reading Andy'S book. B
