Olive oil, a nit comb and Dawn dishsoap.

Sitting your child over the sink, slowly saturate their head (section by

section) with olive oil. Keep it on for 30 minutes to suffocate the eggs/lice.

Comb out the hair and then go, again section by section, through the hair with a

nit comb to get any eggs out.

Wash hair with Dawn.

You can cover your child's head with plastic wrap of even a swim cap during the

30 mins, but you don't have to do so.

Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum; especially the furniture. Wash all sheets and worn

clothing in hottest water possible. You might have to get rid of stuffed

animals, or you can place them in a large SEALED plastic bag for 48 hours.

Repeat the olive oil wash in 2 weeks. If you don't see any nits/eggs while

combing out, you can consider the problem under control.

Good luck! This is what I told my sister in law to do after she had a major

headache and vision impairment after using Rid for her family lice outbreak.

I've never dealt with it, personally.

You can do the same 'wash' with mayonnaise. Keep it on for 2 hours and wash

out.

we used coconut oil/manuka oil. melted coconut oil put in drops of MO put in

hair (manuka slows them down) the coconut oil saturates the hair. we used a nit

comb then. and washed hair to get loose nits. put in more oil and placed shower

cap on overnight. used nit comb again and washed out oil.

ccno is supposed to " suffocate " them but it takes longer than 30 min to

suffocate them... as they dont really suffocate they starve. at least 48 hours

for current live bugs to get rid of. new eggs hatch in 10-14 days and will

survive the oil if they are not combed out. i was ocd about it and used the nit

comb every few days. and put manuka oil drop in my shampoo.
