With the luck I am having with all the doctors, I shutter to think I

would even ask about what to " take " for pain relief. My luck, he would

pull out a sledge hammer and say, " Here...take this for pain. "

Yes, I have been up since Sunday morning at 7 a.m. And the night before

that only got about 1 1/2 hours. All due to pain. I have not slep more

than 3 hours in one night for a year at least. Though, about 2 weeks ago

I slep almost 6 hours! It was so nice, I still remember it! And yes,

I am sleepy. Just hurt so bad, when I start to fall asleep, pain hits

again and just gnaws and is everywhere.

I am so tired of all this.

Ice has always made it worse for me. Only heat helps.

Hi- I found that muscle guarding can cause pain around a joint that is part of a flare. A heating pad or hot shower will help. Ice for a synovial fluid flare seems to help with inflammation. I have found I can differentiate between a true synovium bone pain and a muscle pain. Isnt it fun to have to deal with both. Listen to your body, it will tell you what to do. Hugs, Deborah

My Dear- There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. Muscle guarding is what happens when a joint anywhere in the body flares causing pain and inflammation. The muscles surrounding the joint will freeze to protect the joint. I recently had a nasty jaw flare and my entire right side muscle froze and I was unable to talk. Its happened in every joint in my body. If your toes feel frozen or your shoulders or your back or hips or fingers. That is usually why. In OA, stiffness comes from the joint, not the muscle but in RA it is natural defense mechanism. Hugs, Deborah
