Guest guest
For any of you who have or have kids who have braces, please be aware of the damage done by many orthodontists, particularly due to moving teeth too fast. I had to have a tooth pulled this morning. I'm currently in my 40s and had braces for 2 years ages 15 & 16. In my case this was too fast. Every dentist who has seen my x-rays since immediately knows that I had braces because the roots are broken off my four upper front teeth. When the dentist saw how blunted and damaged the roots of the tooth he pulled today, he was shocked at the extent but said the phenomenon is rather common among people who had braces. I contacted the Association of Orthodontists several years ago and they said they know that moving teeth too fast causes damage and don't care. Anyone know where to get an extracted tooth tested for toxic metals, particularly lead since it accumulates in teeth and bone. Guest guest
I had a tooth pulled and it had bent roots. I had braces when I was younger. They damaged a lot, but I am glad I had it done or I would still have buck teeth. My looks improved much. (I was not too happy about the pulling of two perfectly good teeth to get the braces, though.) > > For any of you who have or have kids who have braces, please be aware of the damage done by many orthodontists, particularly due to moving teeth too fast. Guest guest
Hi , They pulled my four best teeth before braces, then I had to have wisdom teeth pulled, now this one. They apparently move the teeth too fast because they don't think teens or parents will agree to more than two years, so they don't even bother to explain why it should take longer. (Reminds me of doctors not explaining the problems/dangers with infrequent chelation dosing because they don't think parents with follow it.) I had buck teeth, too and those have pretty much stayed put but have no roots, the hygienist is amazing that they're not loose. My lower teeth have overlapped again, possibly worse than they were to start with. I also had a palate spreader and that didn't have a long term effect either, I have an extremely high palate, again. As consumers we need to have all the relevant info so we can make informed choices.
