Guest guest
Hi Isa, I have no children on or off the spectrum, though I work in the field. I volunteered with two families doing Son-Rise programs in different states at different times years ago. In both cases I volunteered twice a week for two hours each and for one of the families attended volunteer meetings from time to time. The program is a lot of work but worth it from my perspective. I'm still in touch with one of the families. Their son made lots of progress. I am no longer in touch with the other family. The first family was very devoted, completely on board, with lots of support and volunteers. The other family was less devoted to the program and only one of the parents was really on board. S S OT: Questions to those who have done the son-rise program Posted by: " isaguzmandiaz2@... How did you manage to work with your child for 7-10 hrs a day?\015 2. Did it really bring your child out of autism?\015 3. How did you manage to stay sane under such a big deal of work? Did you have volunteers to help you out?\015 My questions might seem irrelevant to some, but I am getting to a point of no return with other therapies and I am seriously considering implementing this program, I am just so alone, no relatives, few friends, and don't see how l could do it on my own...\015 TIA\015 Isa\
Guest guest
I am doing Son-rise part time. My son goes to school still. He is 5. I have to say I love son-Rise. Their approach has really helped us to help my son. First I just went to the website, watched some videos and started applying their principles. I saw such a drastic change almost immediately. The stress is gone and the kids pick up on that. We also do AC Chelation, though I have not been able to do it every week and have gone weeks inbetween rounds and some biomed. Son-Rise has really changed our lives. I went for the Start Up last year. I have no volunteers. You can do this, even part time. Check out their website and watch the videos. You can get a lot of info just from that. Try their approach and see how your son reacts. Good luck and feel free to email me offline if you have more questions! ~ > > Can someone provide more information on the son-rise program: > 1. Guest guest
Hello! We are a son rise family in Vancouver, Canada -- we went to Start Up in Feb this year -- our son was just over 3 at that time. He was diagnosed with PDD-NOS 1 year ago (just shy of 2 1/2) and we began with ABA, disliked it intensely as we saw how much he disliked it, and then moved to a DIR Floortime approach as I was 8 months pregnant with my second son, and could not go to Start Up. However, I felt that this was THE programme for us. 3 most post start up we have a team of 8 working and playing with our son -- we have managed to set up a 7 day per week, 6 - 8 hour per day programme. We have volunteers that commit to 2 x 2 hr sessions per week, plus a little feedback time after each session (this is what Son Rise teaches you) and 1 team meeting a month. Our son has absolutely blossomed under all this love and acceptance and our family is much more in control and happy. I myself have 4 - 5 2 hour sessions per week with him (2 hours each) and I absolutely love it. My husband has the same. The remainder of the time is with our volunteers. After the playroom, he comes out and we can be a family... it has been a life saver and I recommend it to anyone. This is the most loving, respectful and EFFECTIVE programme in our opinion...our son is speaking in sentences (1 year ago he had no expressive speech, had lost it all) and is able to tell us how he feels, and is starting to tell us about what his likes and dislikes are. But, most importantly, we are all HAPPY...we are enjoying our life and our son. We are also treating him biomedically, and he is on GAPS, AC chelation and MB12 (just began transfer factor after seeing VK Singh speak locally). He is RECOVERING FAST. Best of luck, Fiona (PS if you are referred to Son Rise by someone you get a discount off tuition so let us know if you need a referral!) This is what happened to us. > > Can someone provide more information on the son-rise program: > 1. How did you manage to work with your child for 7-10 hrs a day? > 2.
