The top section talks about phosphorus and calcium. I also wonder if his

vitamin D level has been tested. Some doctors will only do this blood test in

the fall or winter. Can you think of any days recently when he didn't have a

rough time between 4 & 6 and what was different about that/those days?

,

Thanks for your responses. I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of

months now.

vitamin D has never been tested and he only goes outside to go from the house to

the car. He did go to the park the other day for about 30 min. or so.

Unfortunately everything there is geared toward children, not teens. There is

nothing different in the environment between the on and off days except the

indications that his stomach is bothering him. The IBS medicine he was given

affects the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, but he hasn't taken it since all

this started.

Yesterday, I tried making sure he was eating every 2 hours and about 3 pm gave

1/2 dose pain med and pepcid. No incident. I am trying to determine if this is

caused by physical pain or some kind of emotional or mental response to

something.

I have at least one son and a mother in my family with Vitamin D deficiency. Mom

has Basal Cell Carcinoma. Son has mastocytosis.

The doctor said he would not retest the vitamin D deficiency until *Summer*

because it is common for people in the US to be deficient in vitamin D,

especially in the fall/wintertime.

Chances are that virtually everyone here on this group has a vitamin D

deficiency. This is a very common thing these days. And if you are CF, then you

have increased your chances.

It won't hurt to take a supplement of the hormone.
