The director of the school who is also my friend is on my side about it, she is trying to find out for me if I can waive it. She doesn't want me to get one either if I don't want one. Guest guest Posted September 1, 2003 Report Share Posted September 1, 2003 Any *employee* of a school in CA is required to have a TB Test (and submit fingerprints, I think.) Since you are not an employee (even if you are a parent-teacher), you should be exempt from the state's requirement, but I would think that the preschool as a private entitity could have its own regulations? If this is, for some reason, required by a school district, it should fall under the same exemption status as vaccines. That is what I see when I Googled it. It probably varies state by state and employer by employer. For example, an article I saw from Idaho claimed that every person who invoked 'religious exemption' for Tb was granted exemption. A letter had been written to the supervisor or whomever was in charge of the testing policy which spelled out in detail each reason why it violated their strongly held religious convictions. In the District of Columbia, apparently you cannot use religious exemption for Tb testing at town University. Here is a sample letter: http://www.vaclib.org/letters/TBwaiverGen.htm So, if this testing is for your minor child, and your state allows religious exemptions, you should be OK.
