Guest guest
I guess I get another 15 minutes of fame. I was expelled from the autadvo list serve. It seems that I was " trolling " their list and not following " netiquette " . According to this person " netiquette " means that when you join a new group, you should send an introduction post and then just read the posts for a while until you become familiar with the issues of the group. Of course this same person joined one of the lists I moderate and two days later jumped in criticizing other posters. And all that without as much as a " Hi my name is .... " . Neurodiversity? According to the dictionary, DIVERSE means: –adjective 1. of a different kind, form, character, etc.; unlike: a wide range of diverse opinions. 2. of various kinds or forms; multiform.  I like the example given there,  a wide range of diverse opinions.  I find it strange that they don't want anyone on THEIR list who doesn't agree with their thinking, but they seem to know that I posted this story on EOH, , Autism Politics, Autism-Awareness-Action and Hear-Their-Silence and others. I guess neurodiversity isn't as diversive as I thought. The Description of Their List Serve The Autistic Advocacy discussion group was conceived as a companion for a web site by the same name. Membership is open to parents, professionals, autistics, or others that wish to celebrate the wonders of the autism spectrum. If you wish to cure your autistic child, follow the DAN protocols, or are a big fan of Bernie Rimland, this may not be the group for you. But if you would like a place to discuss the challenges of raising an autistic or AS child without the emphasis on forcing normality, this may be what you are looking for. Note: This is a fairly autistic-centric list. There are many autistic members here, and we're quite active. Normal people are encouraged to join, but don't be surprised if the roles are reversed a bit. Once you get past our bluntness and matter-of-fact manner of stating our views, you'll see that this is an NT and parent-friendly place, so long as you don't want to make us normal. Welcome! The Autistic Advocacy discussion group was conceived as a companion for a web site by the same name. Membership is open to parents, professionals, autistics, or others that wish to celebrate the wonders of the autism spectrum.  Seems odd, they don't want anyone on their list talking about causes and cures, but some of them are on cause and cure lists such as EOH. I'm not sure how any of the neurodiverse community could explain why there shouldn't be research to find a cure for someone like the person in the following story. http://www.philly. com/philly/ news/breaking/ 20100803_ Feds_file_ charges_in_ heat_death_ of_autistic_ man.html A 20 year old should not get stuck in a car, unable to open a door or call out for help.     Man will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants. Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you. Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Ben lin
