Have been on adrenal support for almost a year but my thyroid just went crazy

when I added iodine.I am up 25 pnds and my doc has ordered a raft of tests:

Glucose fasting, NA,K,CL,CO2,creatinine, Phosphorus, Manesium, total protein,

albumin, alk phos, ALT, urate (uric acid) bilirubin (total) Serum protein

electrophoresis, LDL lipid profine, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, cholesterol,

Thyroid antibodies, am cortisol, TSH (progressive testing)

The doc said to stay on all my supps – will then not give false readings? Can

someone who knows thyroid/adrenal issues suggest whether it would give truer

readings if I get off ACE or tyrosine or everything for a while (how long?)

before the tests?

I really need some thyroid help and I am hoping these tests along with my

symptoms give my doc enough to do something. I learned from my failed iodine

experiment not to mess around.

How did you add up the iodine? What kind did you use? Did you wean yourself

off of it?

Iodine is certainly very beneficial for most, but one has to proceed carefully

with it. As a supplement, I understand it is not to be taken for more than 3

mos in a row, how long did you take it? Have your pituitary gland checked too.

Wish you quick recovery

Hi Isa,

I was on it for about a month and a half - I took one drop of trophic liquid

iodine (one drop contains 0.25 mg of organically bound iodine) every three days

The first few days I felt a rush of energy where I cleaned my house, played with

my kids and made supper (this was a BIG deal) then it trailed away.

I didn't wein off as i hardly considered myself on it, but a few months later I

tried just one drop more, and 5 pounds quickly followed

Any idea what the pitutary test is called? I will just check it off too. Would

any supps skew results?

Have you been over to the iodine group yet?

iodine/?yguid=257301752

Supplemental Iodine can trip up in few ways. It sets off detox, particularly of

bromine. If too little is taken in the prescence of a goitrogenic substance it

can set the scene for antibody production. It impacts on the pituitary and

influences the oestrogen/progesterone ratio. It can influence histamine

reactions. These are the few things that I know and there will be more that I

don't.

To take it safely it needs to be part of a protocol which includes Selenium,

Magnesium, Vitamins C, B2 and B3, plus regular intake of unrefined seasalt and

water. The Seasalt is important because the sodium from this helps to heal the

mechanism that allows certain substances in and out of cells. There is also a

salt loading protocol which can help speed up the detox and get you out of

tricky reactions.

The amount needed is quite individual - some people have bad reactions on

microgram doses but do really well when they take doses of 50mg or more - and

some people only need microgram doses every few days.

If you have tests done while you are on your supps you know what your levels are

based on what supplements you are taking, I guess its possible to work backwards

from there about what to increase or decrease. It won't tell you what your body

is really doing. It may tell you how well the supplements are being absorbed and

supporting (or not) you.
