Guest guest
when my son took such low doses you'd think we were doing drugs in our house. Open capsule and pour contents on counter. With ALA I've notices some sticks in the capsule. I'd use a toothpick to scrape it all out. Use a straight edge razor to make a nice square and flatten it so its all neat. Cut the pile in half and push half a side. Use the razor to make the rectangle you have left nice and neat and divide into 5 little piles. Repeat for the other half. My husband, the police sergeant, always laughed when I did this. Normally when you see someone cutting up a white powder with a razor you arrest them. Guest guest
Very common reaction for too much ALA. 12.5mg is WAY WAY too much to start off at 40lbs. That is an ADULT starting dose. Starting dose is 1/16-1/8mg/lb, and even some kids can't do that. Reduce to 2.5mg. If everything is OK after 4 rounds, try increasing to 5mg. Stay there for a good long while. lenakhais wrote: > > Good afternoon, > > we just completed our 1st round of ALA chelation (4 year old 40 lbs at > 12.5 mg Friday - Monday morning). Guest guest
That's a large dose to start. Cut it in half and yes, make sure you have a yeast protocol in place and try to increase. Tammy [ ] Defiant and emotional after round 1 of ALA - yeast? Good afternoon, we just completed our 1st round of ALA chelation (4 year old 40 lbs at 12.5 mg Friday - Monday morning). Monday and Tuesday seemed to be ok but today got reports from daycare that he is pushing, hitting, crying, melting down - the worst they've seen... He is also on 75 mg of Enhansa twice per day... Which I know can do a number on a system as well. He did ok on it initially for a month, we increased the dose and had to go back after 2 weeks since he couldn't tollerate. Long story short - would you attribute his worsening to yeast? He is on Nystatin for awhile... so I think it has lost its power. He is taking biotin but I think he'll need GSE and charcoal... Another interesting change - he always fell asleep on his own. Since the day we started ALA - he does not let us leave the room until he is asleep. If we try he gets very anxious, almost to the point of a panic attack. Strange? Or have you seen anything like this with your kids as it relates to chelation? Sorry for what probably are basic questions but even after all the readings (for almost a year), somehow doing the first round brought up all the questions. Thank you

Guest guest
Oh boy... 2 quick follow up questions: 1. Is it ok to do round 2 this weekend (technically starting on Friday) or should we give him a longer break to adjust after such big dose? 2. How do we divide 25 mg capsules (from Kirkmans) to be 2.5 mg... That is 10 doses in one capsule. Any tried and practical tricks? Thank you! > > Very common reaction for too much ALA. > > 12.5mg is WAY WAY too much to start off at 40lbs. Guest guest
We are on round 4 of DMSA and got the same reactions and had to decrease down to 2.5 mg and it is much better now. One thing you might want to check on though is taking Enhansa and ALA at the same time. Our doctor advised us that it would not be a good idea to stess the body that much. A couple other things that we added in to help the yeast while on chelation was aloe vera juice for the yeast and epsom salt baths at night. It made quite a difference in the yeast from round 1 to round 4 with just those additions. Guest guest
Sandy, I was wondering about Enhansa and ALA together but our doctor thought it was ok... I might have to just take him off Enhansa all together on my own. We do epsom salt baths but I have never tried aloe vera... I also noticed you're doing DMSA. Just alone or with ALA? I read that doing them together increases mercury excretion by up to 30%... but any downsides to using them together? Thank you > > We are on round 4 of DMSA and got the same reactions and had to decrease down to 2.5 mg and it is much better now. Guest guest
We plan to do ALA eventually but he is more lead toxic right now. He actually shows 0% toxic for mercury on the last blood test we took so we know we need to get the lead out first then work on the mercury. It's a long process. In regards to the Enhansa, I'll ask my doctor again on Monday about it. We actually don't use Enhansa per se, we use Metalloclear which is has the same ingredient of Curcumin in it. It's weird actually because we have been on Metalloclear for 12 months and recently stopped to do chelation, when we took a 3 week break on chelation Schedule changes and weekend trips, I went back to the Metalloclear and he broke out in a huge rash. My assumption is that the chelation is stirring up the viruses somehow because he never got that reaction before. Guest guest
Hi Sandy A blood test is not a reliable indicator for mercury, often a mercury toxic person will have quite low levels on a blood test, a DDI hair elements test applying counting rules is likely to be more indicative. Guest guest
Wow, like the others have said, that is a very large dose of ALA. My 36 pound 4 year old can't even handle a full 1 mg yet! He gets those same symptoms on it when we don't use the DMSA with it, which helps lessen the side effects. We are at round 20 and are still at VERY low doses of each, it's all based on what we see that he can handle. > > Good afternoon, > > we just completed our 1st round of ALA chelation (4 year old 40 lbs at 12.5 mg Friday - Monday morning). Guest guest
Im seeing something similar in my son this week (very emotional and confrontational). We've been doing ALA/DMPS for a while (1.5 mg ALA, 5 mg DMPS, for 50 lbs)and other than some minor yeast issues and mild night sweats, he's done really well. Lots of gains in social areas, why questions coming non-stop, picking up lots of skills at school. We havent increased the DMPS dosage and added ALA at round 15 (just finished round 25). Hoping its just a bad week. Not seeing typical signs of yeast or bacteria. Guest guest
Let's hope! For us all the defiant behavior started AFTER the round... so I am thinking a redistribution effect after too big of a dose... We will start another round today (round #2) and do like 2.5 mg of ALA only and see...
