Ooops, Celeste! I'm convinced that the water-washing of your scoby is the culprit. Never wash scoby with water, as this dilutes the protective acidity mantle which would ward off mold spores. There is no need to ever wash a scoby. Just wriggle it in some KT to dislodge unsightly strands of yeast (they are really perfectly harmless) and pop it back into the brew with plenty of starter liquid which should be about one tenth of the brewing liquid e.g. 10ml for 1 litre. This should beat the baddies! All the best and let us know how you are going on :-) Margret:-) -- +------------------ Minstrel@... --------------------+ <)))<>< http://www.therpc.f9.co.uk <)))<>< http://www.AnswersInGenesis.com +----------------- http://www.Gotquestions.org ------------------+ May the strength of three be in your journey (Irish Proverb)

Guest guest
Thanks, Margaret... I'll give it a try. I wondered if that might be the problem, but that yuck on the scoby looks so icky I had to rinse it. Guest guest
We've done 12 rounds of chelation so far. While my daughter is gradually making gains, she is worse about putting everything in her mouth and licking things. Yeast has always been an issue. I started chelation knowing that we still didn't have yeast under control, and I knew that chelation would exacerbate the yeast problem. She had been on several supplements to treat yeast with no observed improvement, so I went ahead with chelation because I didn't want to waste anymore time. She still takes the following supplements to treat yeast: caprylic acid, candidase, olive leaf extract, biotin, and grapefruit seed extract. Since she is taking supplements that have actually helped others with their yeast symptoms, but hers are getting worse, I was wondering if I was doing something wrong...wrong dose, wrong frequency, wrong supplement, etc. Any input is appreciated! Thanks, Emerson
Guest guest
I did the same thing and didn;t see gains until round 20 so with some improvements you are doing better than I did. Mouthing and licking things here would be bacteria not yeast, I went overboard treating yeast and ended up with bacteria issues GSE is a crude carpet bomber IMHO FWIW I would stop the GSE and Caryllic focus more on putting good stuff back in What probio's do you use? Guest guest
hi hun, chewing, sucking and licking etc were big zinc deficiency signs in our house, dmsa drains zinc, and i'm sure somewhere it says its helpful to add in 2-3x a day during chelation. yeast does have similar symptoms, enhansa, i found had an amazing effect on yeast in our this weekend, after 1 capsule, my screaming banshees became pussycats. we've battled yeast for 5 years and got pretty much nowhere, we too feel chelation is the only answer, and the increase in yeast is something we too, have to take along for the ride. we've only done 1 round at a low dose with dmsa, so dreading the gradual increase. you can also try increasing probiotics, we also use a yogurt made with the 'scd recipe', lots of probiotics that way. um hopefully, others can offer more advice, good luck!! Guest guest
Good point mandi, forgot about gse, i know when we were investigating chelation before, some ppl were using it only on chelation days, some were diluting it right down, to use on chelation days only, to administer it for example, 1/4 drop with each dose just to hold off the yeast, then give lots of probiotics etc on the off days. i have to say i didn't realise that caprylic acid caused bacterial issues, i always thought it was one of the 'kinder' ones. good to know! emma mum to 3 with asd, 3,7, 12; 1st round dmsa, 2.5mg, 5mg & 10mg. > > I did the same thing and didn;t see gains until round 20 so with some > improvements you are doing better than I did. I used biotin and GSE. I had to use a LOT. What are the doses you are using? The OLE *increased* yeast here, because it helped address virus issues. Guest guest
Stick with it. The only way you are ever going to get on top of the yeast is with chelation. You have to just do the best you can until then. We started seeing some improvements on the yeast after about 6 months of chelation. Guest guest
I vaguely remember there being a thread that had a very rough time line on when, on average, particular problems shifted, i'm sure on that timeline, it said, yeast roughly took 12 mths of solid weekly rounds to shift, don't know if there are any 'old timers' here that remember this???? Basically thats what we're working towards, a 'yeast free' xmas next year - wow imagine!! (it also gave rough timelines according to ages plus a rough estimate of how much recovery there was according to age when beginning chelation - just wondered if it rang any bells??) hth emma mum to 3 asd; 3, 7, 12; 1 round dmsa, 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg. > > Stick with it. Guest guest
Of course I am 100% committed to chelation, and I know it is the only way to truly get rid of the yeast. I just thought if I could alleviate any symptoms as we are doing chelation that I would try for my daughter's sake. After all, I have to imagine that she is miserable with her bloated belly and whatever is going on inside her. Since she can't talk, I have to guess based on my observations. We give all of her supplements 4 times daily. We give 1/2 capsule of Biotin (500 mcg)each time and 4 drops of GSE each time. I know chelation stirs up yeast as the mercury is coming out...just looking for some relief for my daughter. But we are still sticking with chelation 100%. Thanks! > > We've done 12 rounds of chelation so far. While my daughter is gradually making gains, she is worse about putting everything in her mouth and licking things.
