I suspect that he has symptoms that are beyond autism. He has good days and bad days (more bad days than good days). More frequently, in his bad days, he gets more " brain short circuits " . When this happens, he would not be able to make a clear decision. A simple " yes/no " decision will make him frustrated and emotionally stuck. I attribute this to brain inflammation (we are on very strict diets, and doing supplementations and chealation). Besides, sometimes if I ask him things like " do you want to sit on my lap to read story together? " , even when his mind decision is NO, he would HAVE TO come sit on my lap for half a second but very quickly get off. Similarly, when we ask him if he wants to go to bathroom or not, even he does not need to, he would HAVE TO run to the bathroom, and quickly run back. Things like this happen more often when he is in bad days. I see this as OCD (obsessive compulsive) symptoms. Do your autistic kids have similar OCD symptoms? I suspect PANDAS diesase, but not sure if there exist other possibilities. I'd like to hear from parents like you to help me analyze the case. What lab tests would be helpful for us to confirm/disconfirm conditions? My son has severe heavy metal problems. Would chealation eventually help rid such symptoms?
