Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, After a disastrous trial of Strattera and after 6 months of " wait and see, " I started my son on Tenex. It did make him less impulsive, but the problem was that it made him much less active also. He was tired all the time, including falling asleep at school, and he began to gain weight. We gradually cut back his dose and I increased his supplements (largely on great advice from people on this list). Today (about 3 years after we first put him on Tenex) he has lost about half the excess weight, is much less impulsive and anxious, and focuses pretty well. His activity level is in the low-average range for his age. He takes 1/4 gram Tenex in the a.m., and 1/4 gram at bedtime (a very small dose). Supplements that have made the most difference are Olive Leaf Extract (OLE), amino acids to repair the gut and provide useable proteins, and inositol (available as a powder -- I mix it and his aminos into rice milk). If I had it to do over again, I would avoid the Tenex and treat the symptoms with supplements. I want to heal him, not just medicate the symptoms. I hope this helps. Good luck. Hi: Has anyone used Tenex on their child, any side effects? Did it help improve your child with implusive behaviors? Thank you.
