Guest guest
Hi all, I spent 1.5 years chelating my now 15 y/o son until this past August 2010. He was entering high school, so I wanted to take a break from chelating until he settled into his new role as a hs freshman, and I also wanted to order a hair test to see how he was doing. I clipped a piece of his hair before he re-started chelating. Well, we just started up again this weekend, and I plum forgot how difficult the night wakings were. I can get up, however getting him awake is another story. Sometimes I stand there for 5 minutes, and when he does wake he's not too happy. My question is this: for the dose around 1 or 2 am, could I do my own transdermal form? I was thinking of mixing a dose in say coconut oil (just before bed) and just rubbing that on him instead of waking him. Maybe put it on the back of his neck? Thanks! Guest guest
You shouldn't mix and match the methods. Do one or the other. I know he is older, but maybe you can still use an oral syringe. My boy hardly wakes up. Just mix the ALA with apple juice. Guest guest
As a freshman in high school, he should be able to acclimate to this. I've began chelating my kids when they were 3 and 10, and the 3 year old was harder at night until he got used to it. My now 15 year old, I just go in at night and say " take your pill " and she sits up and takes it, then I hand her the water and she drinks and lays back down. Barely recalls me coming in at all. I don't know his diagnosis or if he has one at all, but generally older kids can participate more in this and are old enough to explain that I'm coming in to give you a pill at 4am. He will get used to it. It might be a bit rough for a while until he does. None of us likes getting woke at 4am. But he'll have to adjust because you cannot switch to td at night for convenience. The absorption is not the same. It's not safe to do this. He has to learn to take it at night. I have found that midnight and 4am work better than 1am if you can adjust your rounds to have those nighttime wakings. We found that my kids seemed to be more deeply asleep at 1-2 am rather than midnight and it made it harder to comply at night.
