Hi,

My son was on lamictal many years ago. I started on very low dose also, and

built up steadily. My son slept for 3 weeks straight after starting this

medication. Never got an explanation why, there are side-effects of course,

just read the paperwork it lists a myriad of them. Hope things go well for

you. I got my son off the medications after a change of diet, actually think

his seizures were due to food issues and reactions to vaccine toxins.

days. Then we switch to Lamictal 5 mg with the same number of caps for 15 days

and then we re-assess with an EEG & a chat about symptoms.

usual doctors etc? (We're leaving in two days for the mountains & though I'm

sure there are doctors in the area, the nearest hospital is over 30 mins away).

break from school where I can keep a close eye on my DD so obviously I'd like to

try this while she's with me.

I'll wait til I get home but then that's a day before school starts & I'm not

comfortable starting an anti-seizure med & sending her off to school for 8 hours

where I can't keep an eye on her reactions.

life-threatening reaction was highly unlikely at a low dose and that if any

adverse reaction happened, I could stop the med with no risk of further

problems.

school? Do you just observe for one day, a few or what?

Thanks for your reply na.

I read about the possible side-effects of course and that's why I wanted to know

from those who had used them when the negatives show up so I could decide

whether to start this now & continue on vacation or wait.

I'm starting the Lamictal tonight so I'm keeping my fingers crossed & hoping to

see benefits from the start.

my son had terrible night wakenings starting from week 3, terribly constipated,

sitting for hours in the toilet in the middle of the night (he is never

constipated), no improvements for him, but i hear some kids respond really well.

GO SLOW in the rump up
