This study examined increased Hg exposure from maternal dental amalgams during pregnancy among 100 qualifying participants born between 1990-1999 and diagnosed with DSM-IV autism (severe) or ASD (mild). Logistic regression analysis (age, gender, race, and region of residency adjusted) by quintile of maternal dental amalgams during pregnancy revealed the ratio of autism:ASD (severe:mild) were about 1 (no effect) for < or =5 amalgams and increased for > or =6 amalgams. Subjects with > or =6 amalgams were 3.2-fold significantly more likely to be diagnosed with autism (severe) in comparison to ASD (mild) than subjects with < or =5 amalgams. Dental amalgam policies should consider Hg exposure in women before and during the child-bearing age and the possibility of subsequent fetal exposure and adverse outcomes. > >
Guest guest
Makes some sense. My son is severly Autistic. He has no fillings but I have oodles. As a child most of my teeth were filled. My first born had Downs. Maybe they were just set up by my health issues. Guest guest
yes i have 13 which have been their since i was a kid, my first two girls were fine, except first born had severe thrush that needed 6 bottles of nystatin, my first son, born after the girls is profoundly disabled started with epilepsy at 2.5months, then had cataracts appeared in both eyes at 7months, loosly diagnosed with " a typical type of musle, eye, brain disease " which they told me was genetic!!! Funny thing is knowing what i know now, he started fitting basically a week after his first set of vaccines which included the HIB! Then my youngest who was a little lazy (and still is) but was babbling and had great eye contact and making milestone a little late but never the less was still making them, then had the MMR, and it all went downhill from there. Forgot to mention my girls never had the MMR or HIB, hib wasnt arround at that time and MMR was in news alot about safety, i actually got called into the doctors office because i refused to vaccinate my eldest daughter with the MMR and i basically told the doctor if he wanted to sign a letter drawn up by a solicitor to say that the MMR was safe i would then have it done, he just said that i was absurd and it was never up for discussion again. x From: ritzywright@...
