Skyler is on 0.4 mg Thursdays. Though I had thought it was due to Prednisolone

- his growth is stunted since September 1999, he has had some bad liver tests

and is taking Lukovorin on Fridays.

Re:

To all those who say they have side affects from methotrexate what doses are

you on? I'm currently having 15mg injections every Friday and dont seem to

notice any particular side affects.

Yes Stacey, everyone will experience these kinds of side affects if a) you don't drink plenty of water ( 1 leter is good ) over a 3 hour period directly after taking MTX, as MTX will dehydrate you to reduce the inflamation. Continue drinking extra water over the next 3 days. B) you increase dosage too fast initially, as most rhumeys will have you gradually increase weekly dose by 2.5 mg.., ex: if you are taking 3 tablets of 2.5 mg each week, ...after your body gets used to that (usually takes 4 weeks, then increase another 2.5 mg for another 4 weeks untill you increase another 2.5 mg again for another 4 week period. You should always take MTX on an empty stomach, plus, as milk and dairy products can weeken the MTX effectiveness..... Read this link: http://www.midwestarthritis.com/Pages/methotrexate.html Also, this link below will explain why dehydration happens when taking MTX: http://arthritis.about.com/od/arthqa/f/folicacidmtx.htm Your inability to carry on a conversation with your husband, and memory loss has me thinking you may have some other issues at play here also. My sister had these problems and she was a Diabetic, where her blood sugar would go high, then very low without warning. If you have Diabetis also, make sure you check your blood sugar before and after taking MTX, as it may be a trigger one way or the other on blood sugar readings. You may need to readjust insulin, or watch your sugar intake. Make sure you bring up all these symtons to your doctor, hopefully one

Since I went up to a full 10 mgs (1 Pill) I am having confusion that lasts 2 or 3 days after taking the pill. I make bad judgements when driving and cannot remember where I left my car at the store. My husband says I'm "not there." He has forbidden me to drive until I can carry on a conversation with him and prove I can drive with him in the car. I am also having extreme dizzy and tiredness that happens quickly then I sleep for 2 to 8 hours at a time. It usually starts with a feeling in my upper chest that something is tight and fluttery inside, then I get

a headache. The next thing I know I am so sleepy I can't say awake.Anybody else have this problem???Stacey

Methotrexate with a meal or milk. God bless.

I know they told me to drink lots of water, so I upped my intake to 16 glasses a day. I had not heard to drink 1 liter within 3 hours. I will try it tomorrow. No one told me to take it on an empty stomach either. I'll try that too. Is waiting an hour after you take it long enought before you eat? I don't have diabetes, but I do have a strong family history. I will talk to the Rheumy about that.
