Hi!

I got pregnant with my son (now 18 months old) while taking enbel, with no side

effects. I stop as soon as I found out I was pregnant. We would like to have

another child but I am taking remicade and methotrexate (mtx) now. My Dr, here

in Japan, says I have to be off of mtx for 3 months before trying to conceive.

Japanese Drs tend to be a bit cautious.

I'm so sorry no one responded to your question. I was lucky enough to

develop PA after my children were born so I can't say for sure if Enbrel is

safe for children. I do know that when I took Enbrel and got sick, it took

a lot longer than 24 hours for the symptoms to get out of my system. It was

closer to 6 weeks. I doubt that's the answer you are looking for, but I

would call your doctor to be sure. It's not something you want to take a

chance with. Good luck, Fran

Hi Ghaida, the package insert says that they haven't really tested enough to

know. There is also a lot more detail on the Enbrel site, I click the stuff

that says " for rheumatologists " instead of the stuff for patients. It's a

lot more detailed and I can only understand about 50% of it but it gives you

much more info than the patient info. I printed it all out, about 60 pages,

and went through the parts that I am interested in...not trying to get

pregnant so I haven't read that part...

My doctor told me it's ok to take it until ovulation,

then stop, 2 weeks later take a preg test, if -, back

on it for another 2 weeks and so on. I got a false -,

took Enbrel once and my baby is as healthy as it gets.

Methotrexate on the other hand I don't think 2 months

off it it's enough, I would wait 6.

I have never heard of mexotrexate being used for an abortion drug.

Where did you get this info?

Hey Everyone!

I don't know about Enbrel and pregnancy but for Methotrexate you should def.

wait at least 6 mos. and my ex-husband's uncle was a pharmacist and he

reccomended at least a year after quitting Methotrexate before attempting to

get

pregnant. I had a miscarriage after being off of Methotrexate for a short

while (I can't remember how long it was now) but at the time they thought

Methotrexate may have been to blame for the miscarriage somehow possibly. Also,

here is a link that explains the use of Methotrexate as an Abortion

alternative.

I also know that Methotrexate is a major ingredient of the RU486 pill.

Hi,

I have not been on in a while. I have been so tired with work and

starting mexotrexate. My doctor told me that they use mexotrexate as an

abortion drug in injection form. Well, I ahve to go and get ready for

work.

  • 6 months later...

Hi everyone. I'm a new member to the group and have had rheumatoid

arthritis for 12 years (diagnosed at age 11). I just recently got

married and my husband and I are looking forward to starting a family

very soon. I went to my doctor to talk to him about medications and

what I should be on before and during pregnancy. He said that

everything I am on is fine but that Enbrel has not been tested in

pregnant women. I am VERY uneasy about this and am unsure whether to

continue taking it. I called the Enbrel hotline and was told the same

thing: there have been no studies done on pregnant women who take

Enbrel, therefore there is no data. Does anyone have any

information/stories to share regarding this topic? ANYTHING would be

appreciated.
