Guest guest
We used Samonas (which sounds like it works the same way as TLP) for my now 12 yo dd. It was prescribed by her neurodevlopmentalist as part of a comprehensive therapy program. We used it for about a year. My dd was adopted from Russia at 8.5 months of age, but had been born at 26 wks. She is ADHD with some autism symptoms. She's always been extremely irritable, especially to sounds. We had to get hearing tests through an audiologist before starting this. Her hearing tests always showed hearing well above normal in certain frequencies, so I had hopes that we were on the right track with hearing therapy. Unfortunately, the Samonas did nothing beyond calming her WHILE she listened - no carry over beyond that. After reading more, we went on to AIT - the same idea, only the frequencies that are imbeded are specific to the hearing test results. We did two full rounds of this (about $1,750.00, for it all). Same results: great while listening (she loved to work with sculpting things out of clay during it), zero carry-over. Then we went on to AC chelation - now we've hit pay-dirt. None of the other therapies got at the foundational level - AC therapy does. She may very well have hearing abnormalities that greatly contribute to her irritability, but none of the listening therapies, or any of the other therapies aimed at the senses (as prescribed by the neurodevelopmentalist) could " stick " with that mercury coursing through her. She ( & my other dd, both adopted at the same time from Russia, 33 days apart in birth)were vaccinated both in Russia, then again here, all in one day. I wasted time and money before getting to the bottom of things with AC chelation. Everybody's kids are different - both in the source of their difficulties and the exact nature of their difficulties, but this is our experience. Just sharing our experience that what is working is getting to the foundation of where the problems started that can be ameliorated. > > > > I'm really surprised to see that some kids have significant language > > benefits thanks to this program. Guest guest
My son was a big responder to Berard AIT. Samonas made him more sensitive to noise, and worse behaviorally. So did ALA, I think as someone else mentioned, it really triggered yeast for us. > > > > > > I'm really surprised to see that some kids have significant language > > > benefits thanks to this program. Guest guest
How did your son respond to Berard AIT? It's been recommended for my daughter who has heightened sound sensitivity. Given the cost of the sessions, we're not going ahead with it, but I'd still like to know how it helps others. Thanks,
Guest guest
We started on his third birthday. At the time he was not speaking at all. Within a day or two he started echoing words. I would say, " Josh do you want this, Yes? " and he would echo, " yes. " I thought he was answering me. He was just repeating, but it was so clear. If he had said anything before then, it wasn't clear enough to be understood. (There were other words besides yes, and eye contact was normal.) He also, that week, started saying " hi " and " bye " to people spontaneously. He definately became more aware of people and tried to communicate. The echoing was huge because it was as if he couldn't hear before, and now he could, and he could repeat words. Basically it was the very beginning of him being able to talk. That was a long time ago, and he is completely verbal today, at 15. I feel like that first AIT gave us a boost in helping him differentiate what sounds he should attend to. For some reason Samonas did not help and made him sound sensitive. He also had really great responses to enzymes, secretin, vit A and bethanocol, antifungals, and just slowly got better over time. If your child is already verbal, I would probably hold off and save money for other interventions. You can decrease sound sensitivity by playing Don Cambell's " Mozart for Children " CD's for 20 minutes in the background twice a day, alternating selections. If your child is not verbal, and you are willing to take a gamble, Aditi Silverstien in Roanoke, Virginia is wonderful. She is very knowledgable and absolutely loves the kids. >
