Guest guest
We have been doing biomed, inclusive of GFCF and LOD diets, enzymes, natural antimicrobials of all sorts, parasite cleanses every 6 months, Andy Cutler chelation and even homeopathy with our five year old for years, because of his SPD and anxiety symptoms. Overall, he's doing much better, but we still have a long road, anyway, he's not the problem. In the process of learning about our 5 year old, we have been trying to prevent these issues in our two and a half year old by not vaccinating, using supplementation and diets (he had eczema reactions to dairy and soy when I was nursing him) and most recently, chelation, based on a hair test that appeared to prove him to also be borderline mercury poisoned. He didn't quite meet the counting rules, but his essential elements were pretty skewed. He most definitely has gut issues, yeast and bacteria, he has severe bloating and mood swings. Our whole house just experienced a major stomach bug a few weeks ago that had everyone vomiting and the whole thing, but no fevers, just stomach issues. We still don't feel entirely right when we eat. Since then (along with molar teething) our two and a half year old has suddenly started behaving HORRIBLY. He is having tantrums like I have never seen before, it's like he can't even smile anymore, he screams about everything, takes everything away from his older brother and runs, just to be mean, is completely and utterly defiant, if we say black, he's going to say white, if he wants something (IE - a drink) and we hand it to him he freaks and throws it acting like he doesn't want it, then cries that he wants it. He is clingy and won't play on his own, he is hungry CONSTANTLY, like every hour all day, but fights me on everything I try to feed him, if it's not snacky. He has always had a difficult personality like this, especially when sick, but I am feeling like something isn't right. Since this illness, he has also started acting a little sensory defensive, like foods and warm water are too HOT, loud sounds bothering him slightly, he doesn't like me to touch him. If this is the illness we just had it seems to be lasting too long and honestly, I am losing the ability to cope. I am now crying regularly and I am not a crier. I just can't enjoy my kids or my life like this, it's awful. He has also been saying his belly hurts when he wakes up and after naps (hunger? growth spurt?). While he was sick with horrible burning and very pale diarrhea, he started holding it in causing constipation. We gave him oxy powder and aloe vera juice (which he gets daily anyway) plus we give him fiber with his probiotics at bedtime. Now the consistency is more normal and the color is fine, but I can tell that there is still a little constipation, by the shape of his BMs (like little balls clumped together at the start of it sometimes) and he doesn't seem to be going as much (volume) as he was before the illness. I'm sure this can't be helping matters. At first I was concerned that maybe he was being irritated by an antimicrobial, so instead of giving him 3 drops of OoO orally, I started putting them on his feet and I cut back on his GSE (was giving about 15 drops, cut back to 10) and today he is WORSE plus he has the red anal ring back which had been mostly gone since the illness went away. Today he is crying that his hiney is itchy...poor guy. I hate this!! I even stopped most of his vitamins to see if anything else was irritating him (except for his vit D, magnesium citrate, K2, artichoke extract). Now, I am concerned that maybe he is deficient in something or that he needs something more, but I don't know what or how to figure that out. He has had bloodwork done recently along with a lead test, just basic stuff, and nothing was really off there. I can make an appointment at our DAN! if we need to test something, does anyone have any suggestions? I am torn, stool test, OAT, metabolic panel.... Any ideas? Guest guest
Our son did not tolerate DMSA do to the sulfur. He had a lot of the same symptoms your son did. Also he begged us to stop because he was so depressed. We are now trying something new developed by Dr. Isaac Eliaz. ________________________________ From: G <luckylot@...> Sent: Thu, December 30, 2010 7:37:05 AM Subject: [ ] Seriously losing it, need help with 2 year old We have been doing biomed, inclusive of GFCF and LOD diets, enzymes, natural antimicrobials of all sorts, parasite cleanses every 6 months, Andy Cutler chelation and even homeopathy with our five year old for years, because of his SPD and anxiety symptoms. Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear your 2 year old is having a hard time and you are struggling to help him. Can you pinpoint when it got worse? We had a bout of horrid behavior this summer and I still don't know what happened. I *think* my son's improvements (from aggression and major agitation of all sorts) were due to adding cranberry juice (in the form of jello) and N-Acetylcysteine for a short time. So it was possibly a problem of bacteria and/or not enough glutathione. What I learned recently is that there is a balancing act that needs to be managed between yeast and bacteria treatment. Apparently, you can treat yeast too much and end up with a bacteria problem that manifests as aggression? at least in some. I have also noticed for myself and others in my family, that chelating makes phenol intolerance WAY worse. I think it is because mercury interferes with the sulfation processes that break down the phenols while it is moving and coming out. I don't know the exact science of it, but I can say for sure phenol intolerance IS related to mercury chelation for our family. I have decided that we will avoid phenols as much as possible when we chelate and that epsom salt baths will be our main method of replenishing sulfates (to help with the little phenol we do get) instead of getting an enzyme product like No-Fenol. I think you had a good instinct with stopping his supplements. Many times I have backed down from lots of supplements to just Vit C (we use amla) and magnesium. I think you should consider taking out GSE altogether, at least at this time, because of the phenol in it and because it is one of the supplements that is suspect for intolerance. The fact that your 2 year old is hungry all the time seems that he has an ongoing food intolerance problem. Have you removed gluten? The hunger and sound sensitivity and sensory issues have been related to gluten/wheat intolerance in our family. Gluten makes my hair feel like it is poking my face, it also gives me little shooting pains in my eyes if that makes any sense. It causes the sound sensitivity and sensory issues in my boys. It also makes them extremely impulsive, which is so irritating! I would add or increase zinc to see if that helps him smell and taste food better and therefore increase his preferences as far as food selection. If zinc helps, try to back off the carbs he is eating and get more vegetables in (like using attractive trays of all kinds of vegetables with hummus or something). I think constipation is a sign of mineral deficiency. I have no reference or proof of this, but it seems the body is trying to get something from the stool and is therefore sucking it dry trying to get more from of something from it. I would try increasing magnesium with taurine (for better absorption), along with giving high vitamin C and probiotics. Hope that helped some! Guest guest
Increase the GSE. He got worse when you lowered it. Constipation and nasty behavior are often yeast. Guest guest
, If your two year old hasn't been vaccinated, why is it that he is being chelated? Also, has he had many antibiotics without probiotics afterwards to suspect candida overgrowth? What a blessing that he has regular bowels at two and speaking! What is " borderline " mercury toxcicity? Have you sent the fractioned porphyrins test to confirm mercury before chelating? He may just not be feeling well and wanting your affection. Maybe check his D3 levels to see if he has too little or too much. D3 is one of those that can be toxic if given too much and would produce symptoms as well. Just my thoughts! A hot Epson Bath for mom and a great nights sleep with some time for mom always helps me to have more clarity. Guest guest
Investigate yeast and adrenals. He got worse when you decrease yeast protocol so begin there. Illnesses will tax the adrenals so look into getting some ACE on board. Reminds me of my 2 year old unvaxed kiddo. He is sweet with enough ACE, yeast protocol, and he eats well with enough zinc on board. Guest guest
Same thing happens here. My 2 year old isn't ASD, but if I skip a week of chelation his mood will begin to decline even with the ACE and yeast protcol on board. We haven't taken many break since I started chelating him, but I notice it anytime we do. Tressie > > > > Our son did not tolerate DMSA do to the sulfur. Guest guest
Unfortunately while vaccines are the most common cause of merc toxicity in children they aren't the only source of merc. My 5 year old was diagnosed with low to moderate functioning Autism and was never vaxed. I was not vaxed while preg, not teeth work while preg. I do have a few amalgam fillings and we lived in MN (state with highest Autism prevelance rate in the US, can you say environment?). Another interesting fact is that he had only one round of antibiotics in his life after the age of two and after he was well into Autism. He is a yeast/gut/ sulfur kid. We have done almost 50 rounds of chelation and he is a huge responder. He was recently reevaluated and no longer meets the diagnostic criteria for autism. I do believe vaxes are a crime against our children and I am thankful to this day that I had found info against vaxing prior to the birth of my obviously merc sensitive son or I am sure we would have be beginning this journey with a vegetable. But make no mistake unvaxed child may still desperately need to be chelated. Guest guest
I'm thinking yeast and other bad bacteria overgrowth. Symptomatically, that's what seems to be going on. I would increase GSE and drop anything yeast and it's buddies would like.  Remember yeast and mercury like each other and they protect each other so if you quit treating one, they both seem to intensify symptomatically. Going off your yeast protocol while you had the intestinal bug would give yeast a change to flourish. You may also have altered your diet to more 'comfort' foods that contain more carbs. That would also encourage the yeast.  I'm thinking if you increase the GSE you'll get a possible die off reaction and then more stable behavior possibly.  Sorry. It sounds like you've had a long haul. Tressler Healthy Transitions Life Coaching 541-791-1464 Help raise funds for Legacy Land Conservancy by searching the internet or shoping online with GoodSearch (www.goodsearch.com). Guest guest
Treating for parasites before, during and after a full moon is a good way to kick them, it is during the full moon that they lay eggs. Sure u hit them hard w 3 rounds in a row, way to go. Isa Enviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de Telcel [ ] Re: Seriously losing it, need help with 2 year old I'm not sure that parasite cleanses every 6 months is enough if he truly has them. Itchy bottom is a symptom of parasites, as is constant hunger, tummy aches (and gurgling), constipation. We've had parasites even when the gastro tests turned up negative, as evidenced by the parasite I scooped out and took to the doctor for confirmation after receiving a negative test. Doc gave 2 rounds of Rx but then believed the issue was well treated. Symptoms persisted. Pin-X or Reese's seems to work for about 2 weeks, then I assume that more eggs have hatched because the problem re-occurs. After the 2 rounds of Rx I treated with Pin-X every 2 weeks for 3 rounds in a row and then saw improvement. I was fanatical about washing the sheets during that time as well, as well as frequent hand washing in very warm water, nails clipped short, etc. I think our issue is resolved but it did take time. If I see itchy bottom symptoms again this is the first thing I will think of. Guest guest
> , I'm so sorry to hear your 2 year old is having a hard time and you are struggling to help him. Can you pinpoint when it got worse? **Not quite, he has always been a difficult personality, it just seems to have gotten worse, maybe since molar teething. I only started adding things to combat the moods after they started, so there was nothing new that I can think of. **I actually did cut back on GSE and increased the OLE and OoO a bit. I was thinking the same thing, because it actually happened in both kids to some extent. **I had stopped the zinc for about a week prior to this, just to be sure it wasn't too much for him (using Andy Cutler protocol for supplementing and chelation) so perhaps that was the problem. I just added it back in today, at the previous dose, so that we can get back to chelation. **He has been casein and gluten free since he started eating foods, and actually casein free even while I was nursing. He got gluten when I was nursing, but started gluten free when he started eating solids. So he has been gluten free for over a year now. > I would add or increase zinc to see if that helps him smell and taste food better and therefore increase his preferences as far as food selection. If zinc helps, try to back off the carbs he is eating and get more vegetables in (like using attractive trays of all kinds of vegetables with hummus or something). **Just added the zinc back in this morning. He doesn't get carbs with the exception of the occasional rice flour is VERY small amounts in muffins once in a while. He fights veggies REALLY hard, I try to get as much as I can in him all day, smoothies and home made dips and dressings, he's a hard one! My other son loves veggies, no fights there, lol. I even try to give them snacks of raw veggies, I make kale chips, I hide veggies in muffins and pancakes.... **he was just sick with a stomach virus a week ago, so I think they might have been related, because as of right now, he's back to normal in the BM area. Here's to hoping it stays that way. I gave him back the magnesium the other day. I had also increased his aloe juice a little too. I've tried taurine in the past a few times and never saw any changes in him. We have to avoid vit C because of oxalates, so we use astaxanthin instead which is a VERY high antioxidant, 400x more potent than vitamin E. > Hope that helped some! *Thanks again Liz! Guest guest
Before reading your response Jan, I went back to giving him the OoO orally and it seems like we might have had a bit of die off, but today he woke in a MUCH better mood. So far he is playing with his brother and using the potty well, still a feisty little thing, but doing much better. I think his problem is bacteria actually. When he had to go in the hospital once over a year ago, they gave him vanco and his then-constant red ring finally went away. Since then we have gotten the ring under control with a combo of GSE and OoO with high doses of biotin. Then since then, we have turned his ever-mushy stool to very normal by going low oxalate, that has been an amazing change for us! The ring only seems to show back up when he appears to have a flare of either yeast or bacteria. One other thing I noticed recently is that a wet-dog smell they get when they have wet hair is gone, at least for now. He has ALWAYS had that, my other son still has it. > > > > Any ideas? > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Vaccines aren't the only exposure to heavy metals like mercury. I have 7 amalgam fillings which I am sure started them off with a nice dose of mercury in utero, among other exposures that I wasn't aware of pre-baby like seafood, pesticides, my own exposures through my mother who is filled with amalgam fillings and was a photographer for eyars, developing her own photos (mercury exposure...), etc. Basically, I passed a lot of it on to them. He only had antibiotics once in his life and we combated that experience with hid doses of probiotics. The heavy metals are the cause for yeast and bacteria. When I say borderline mercury toxicity, I am referring to the way the test is read, he didn't meet the counting rules persay, but I can tell from the test that he is still mercury toxic. My guess would be that if I were tot est him again now, after 19 rounds of chelation, he would probably meet the counting rules. We can also tell by his changes during chelation, that it is doing something for him. I have not checked his D3 levels, and I do think we should. We had our other son tested recently and he was in the normal range, but on the low side, even though we were giving him D3 daily. We also give K2 to help with the absorption of the D3. How funny, that is exactly what I did after writing my thread, I jumped in a hot bath full of epsom salts, lol. Guest guest
Thanks Tressie. I have some ACE here and have been experimenting with giving him one cap full, is it possible that he needs more? At only 26 pounds? I didn't give him any today and surprisingly, he is doing really well. Beetter than any day in the past 3 weeks, so far. I have also tried GABA 200mg. I need a LOT of GABA to make a difference in myself, like 800mg or more. I also tried Ashwagandha for a while...not much change there either, but I read that if you take more than 35mg in a day, you can actually make adrenal problems worse. Not sure how true that is. Guest guest
He only had the itchy bottom for half of a day and it was timed with our increase in the OoO (after having changed our dose and application) so I think it was our die off sign, because now he is doing so much better. He is communicating well again, if not clearer, he is more patient, stopping himself before tantruming (part of the time), playing nice with his brother and he just went on his potty totally alone, pulling pants down and up all on his own, something he NEVER does!! Guest guest
I don't make high brine sea salt. I purchase it. The brand is " Celtic Sea Salt " . You can google it or go to one of my websites and click on the link there. Michele http://www.healthgazelle.com http://www.kidslikemine.com http://www.solanorail.com > > I'm curious about how to make and use a high brine sea salt. I use himalayan sea salt with my children every day, on their food. I tried adding a little to their vitamins when they were sick too, lol. Just my attempt at giving them more of it, lol. > > I don't give him vit E, because of a sensitivity to soy so I use astaxanthin which is 400 times more potent than vit E (in antioxidants). We use magnesium to the point of loose BMs, then I back off. And yes, you are right, he also gets D and K2 daily. > > What is interesting about my crying (which never happens) is that I have recently started taking all the same vitamins my kids take, because I am preparing to have my amalgams removed and then I will be starting chelation also, so I am following Andy Cutler's recommendations now. > > >
Guest guest
Thank you. Michele http://www.healthgazelle.com http://www.kidslikemine.com http://www.solanorail.com > > > > > > Noise sensitivity and constipation can both be signs of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium deficiency also tends to leave the body too acid. It is possible that contributed to the sore bottom. In case you don't already know it: Magnesium is best absorbed when taken with calcium and calcium is best absorbed when taken with several other things (D, K..and I think one other thing). The ideal ratio is supposedly 2 to 1 (though I have also heard this may vary from some), but I can't remember which mineral is supposed to be twice as much.
