Guest guest
>>Hello, Our son is recovered. And we are applying to private school for him. And the school does not know about his past. In the past, I wrote a few messages on Autism Mercury, and noticed that my name appears when I google myself. I'm sure the school will be googling us, as well. And I'd like to remove my name from the search -- is there a way to do this? Anyone can remove their own messages. Just log in, go to your message that you want to delete, and use the delete button. Guest guest
Sorry Dana, I've logged in and looked and looked. Specifically where is the delete button for previously posted messages? Thank YOU! On 2010-08-21, at 7:53 AM, danasview wrote: > >>Hello, > Our son is recovered. And we are applying to private school for him. And the school does not know about his past. Log in under your ID that you used to post the message. Go to a specific message that you posted. There will be a delete button there. It might be just a delete " link " to click, instead of a button. It should be located adjacent to the " reply " button. Dana

I have the " delete " option on messages for groups I own or moderate, not on this one where I am only a member. Additionally, when the oldest posts on this group began disappearing a few years ago because the group had hit some maximum (which Moria resolved by contacting ), they were apparently preserved on Onibasu. So it may not be possible to remove it. A suggestion I read elsewhere: Create a website or other online presence with more recent, positive info that you do want associated with the name and work on getting that up in the rankings so the info you want to be not noticed drops lower in the rankings. Also, if the name is not highly unique, whomever is searching may have no way of knowing if it is THIS particular " " they found. Warning to other list members: The archives of this group are PUBLIC, not private. If you don't want your private info searchable on the world wide web, don't use your own full name, don't use children's names, be careful what details you put out there. This is an issue that periodically comes up on this list. To remove messages from onibasu, you need to contact that site directly. Dana
