Guest guest
Hi, We use 3 different probiotics on a rotational basis, I also give about 3-4 days a week a capsule of Saccharomyces Boulardi for good measure:-) separately (by a few hours) from the probiotic. The three we use are: VSL 3 The Living Shield Ther-biotic complete by Klaire Labs Vital 10 by Klaire Labs When we first started each of those I gave about 1/10 of it on the first day (2xday) and took 10 days or more(if I saw looser stool I stayed at the current dose until it improved) to build up. I highly respect that approach when it comes to introducing things to my child.I did not have issues with anything if I took the time to introduce it that way. Another measure we use is that I make my own Kombucha at home. It is a fermented beverage that uses green and black tea and grows from a culture. It is loaded with naturally occurring probiotics B group (1,2,3,6,12) vitamins, folic acid etc. I honestly attribute our final straw of bowel recovery to that. Over the last few years I noticed that my daughter actually KNOWS what her system needs and doesn't need by taste/intuition. I figured out this little psychic tallent my daughter has by looking over her diet notes from 1.5 yr ago and that was the time we have been on GFCF for 6-9 months, she starter refusing ALL high oxalate glutein free foods. At that time I didn't even know what oxalate's did and how one should watch for that on GFCF. She alone SAVED herself a major oxalate problem. Now I don't ever force any food/supplement on her unless I know she is just being difficult to test her limits. She LOVES kombucha and asks for it by name. My husband and I started drinking it and he was able to lose some excess weight (nothing dramatic but noticeable) and improve his ADD, I got more energy out of it, both of us improved our digestive function. We are at the point that I have 4 gallons of it brewing at our house with one gallon coming due every 2 days or so (full fermentation cycle is about 7 days). I do have to warn you it is a higher oxalate beverage so I would be very slow and watchful introducing it if you have an issue with oxalates.
