First of all, You should apply for SSDI. The federal government should give you atleast medicaid. You might also think about buying a medi-gap policy to help with deductible payments. If you are on medications and cant afford them, you can possibly get help with them through the drug companies. There must be a plan. What state do you live in? What do you and your husband do for work? What kind of insurance does your husband have. Blue Cross blue shield may be available. If your condition limits you in any way, regardless of your husbands income, and cant afford insurance, then you can and should apply for disability through social security. Finding a patient advocate or disability lawyer in your area is a must there. Since this disease is degenerative, Its a good idea to get the ball rolling. Remember any award you might receive with regard to dsability benefits are retroactive and a lawyer will take his "cut only after you receive an award. Yours, Deborah.

We were able to get insurance for me after

having been diagnosed with RA. There was a 6 month wait tho for pre

existing diseases. Well worth the wait for good insurance.
