Guest guest
Im sure many have had good experiences but this was ours. I gave up and did it all myself after 4 visits. It was a bit like seeing a regular Dr. They would charge for everything. Give us something to try with little additional information on what to expect. We would get a reaction - like say a kick up of yeast (this was when we first entering to this all and didn't have a clue what old kick up yeast.) Not knowing what was happening and they would either be out of reach or we would have to pay for an emergency phone call or visit. I just felt like I was left locked in the dark with no information on how to get out. I know realize that some of the stuff is absolutely opposite of what I have learned since. This was from a very respected Naturopathic DAN Dr who is on the speaking circuit of Autism conferences. I think they can be handy for tests but for us not much more. I empowered myself through reading lots and many of these and all the wonderful generous people that are here going through this together. We have been at this for a few years with A/C Chelation and having great success. Im glad that I didn't leave it up to someone else. If you do use one I strongly advise that you still have a lot of work to do. You must educate yourself along the way and don't expect the naturopathic dr to do it for you. They don't have all the answers or time to teach you. I guess unless you have a bottomless pocketbook but even then nothing replaces your time. you are the strength you are the guide you are the wisdom - your instincts and only you know your child = lots a love. Nat Dr. cant give your child that. Just my 2 cents Simone F On 2010-09-29, at 2:37 PM, khieken wrote: > Hi, > For those of you who use naturopathic doctors, just wondering your opinions. CFS will cause Sig IgA to lower which can be helped by Sachromycees Boulardii, its a good yeast that displaces bad yeast (common in CFS I think) and address bad gut bacteria, Both available from iherb.com, worth a shot one bottle of each, cheaper than a consult and I don't think can do any harm. Guest guest
Sorry, the Cortrex and SuperGram III are from iherb.com, the best Sacc Boulardii IMO is Kirkmans, its doesn't have a bucket load of fillers like the other brands Mandi inUK In a message dated 01/10/2010 01:37:40 GMT Daylight Time, Mum231ASD@... writes: >>Its worth trying some adrenal support, my favourites are Thorne CortRex (not Cortex) which is Adrenal Cortex Extract with additional supporting supps and Emergen C SuperGram III which is an awesome B & C multi in mineral ascorbate form which are especially supportive of adrenals. Guest guest
>>The Nutricology one has been discontinued now but its what I am using. For yonks I have been hit and miss taking 1 in the morning and feeling a tad better but not much. This past weekend I was at a conference, no sleep on the Friday night, took 3 on Saturday morning alongside the Emergen Super Gram III and again 3 caps at 2.00pm, still trying to keep my eyes open as usual at 3.00pm. (Total 1.5 GRAMS of ACE) However, on Sunday feeling much better (still not much sleep, too many autism moms to talk to and drink vino with lol) but did the same - 3 in the morning and 3 at 2.00ish. On Monday I was a completely new woman, I mean night and day, so I've dropped back to 2 caps in the morning and 2 Super Gram III x 4 per day and I just feel better every day. My sleep has improved ten fold in quality, none of the 3.00pm wane in energy, its simply amazing. My adrenals must have been like dried up raisins, I need to grow them back to juicy peaches, this has been a long term issue with me, probably 7 years in the making, I wish I had known years ago that I needed a big kick start dose Going to need to switch to the Thorne ACE when my supply runs out, that's more potent than Nutricology for same mgs, I read 150mg of Thorne will equal 250mg of Nutri, I'll tweek that when I need to I've always been a quick starter to the day, go like crazy woman and fade in afternoon, perking up again after 6.00pm type Other mums I know have been using Thorne CortRex 1-2 in the morning, (this is ACE with supporting supps) alongside the Super Gram III with very good effect but they have younger kids and likely haven't been as exhausted from autism as me, given my lad is nearly 14 Can't wait for tomorrow to see if I feel even better! I have tried the Nutricology ACE, but haven't been consistent with it (too busy working on my kids.) I also know for sure I have a yeast problem, so these supplements look very interesting to me. Have you used them? If so, about how long did it take before you noticed any effects?
Guest guest
Thanks for your thoughtful reply Simone. I understand what you're saying. When I start to think about how much money, for one thing, this will cost me, I do hesitate. I have learned a lot here on these boards, so much more than I would have thought possible. And am helping my kids so much with information I have gathered here. I thought I might try a naturopathic doc for myself to help with my chronic fatigue, but I do think I need to chelate myself and detox. Guest guest
I will have to look into these supplements. I hope I have such good results! Guest guest
Hi I have a truely amazing naturopath. She does a saliva test with a machine apparently not allowed in the US. I think because it would put Big Pharma out of business. We did our 1st test with her on both our children one being NT and the other ASD. I did not tell her anything about my boys and we sent the test by mail. In my NT son she found things I know he was exposed to when I was pregnant with him. In my ASD son she found all things typical of autism that his labs had never indicated. Yeast bacteria metals. We have followed her protocol and have had good results but I am planning to start chelation soon because I fgeel that for the metals we have to bring out the big guns but I am planning to still use her to monitor him because the medical lab tests have never been much help to us. All that being said I think Naturopathy is wonderful as long as you have the right one. Liz ) > > Hi, > For those of you who use naturopathic doctors, just wondering your opinions. Guest guest
Personally, I feel that DAN! doctors are like naturopaths with prescription pads. One time I was involved in hosting a DAN! training in my area. We attracted many naturopaths and they left saying, " that's exactly what I already do in my practice. " But as stated earlier, picking the right naturopath who has experience with ASD is very important. dz > > > > Hi, > > For those of you who use naturopathic doctors, just wondering your opinions. Guest guest
Hi Ralitsa I am guessing that you wanted me to give you info on my naturopath. Im Liz who wrote the last post. Not . My naturopath is located in NY but she will do everything by mail. The test costs $100. She will mail you a swab wich you just put in the mouth and get nice and wet with saliva. It takes about 3 weeks for the results. When you get them back there is a huge list of supplements and homeopathic remedies that she reccomends to treat with. Usually done in 3 or 4 phases. She describes it as peeling an onion. You have to get off the top layers to deal with whats inside. For my son mercury is on the very inside. I have done her testing twice for my ASD son and once on my NT son. For my NT son positive changes were seen by me and his school (much more focused) right away. For my ASD he is definately much healthier. I feel we have finally gotten a handle on his leaky gut. His bacteria issue is gone. Yeast comes and gets better but if I dont watch his sugar it comes back. The metals is the one we are really struggling with. I dont think that homeopathy is enough for that, wich is why we are going to start chelation using the AC protocol. Hope that was the information you were looking for. If you would like her phone number to request a test. Please write me off list. Liz ) > > > > Hi, > > For those of you who use naturopathic doctors, just wondering your opinions. Guest guest
That is wonderful. I do the same thing!! It is very important your ND provide support to get ready to chelate, cannot always do it right away. Ask her for a practitioner in your area that can provide lymphatic drainage, ionic footbaths, etc to start the chelation preparation. > >> > > >> > Hi, > >> > For those of you who use naturopathic doctors, just wondering your opinions.
