Yes, it will, but it will take time and at first the perseveration may increase

after rounds of chelation. Things that show up or increase after a chelation

round are usually the symptoms that go away over time. For us, these symptoms

showed up the last day of a round and for a few days after. Depending on how

severe your child is, you may have rounds " run together " with these symptoms and

no noticeable progress. After taking a break though, or if you do rounds every

other week or every three weeks, progress may be more noticeable. This was our

experience.

It didn't at my house.

Describe exactly what you mean when you use the word " perseveration " . What

exactly does your child do? Many people use the terms " perseveration " and " OCD "

interchangeably, but you are not, so it would help to know how you distinguish

the two terms.

Thanks, Dana, for your reply :)

I guess I always thought OCD/flexibility/perseverations & anxiety were

all " in the same family " , but that they all presented with different

symptoms.

When he was OCD, or inflexible, he would:

HAVE to go to the potty, before..

- getting dressed

- walking upstairs to go to our living room

- upon entering his classroom at school

- had to have two hamburgers at lunch, (not one, not three), two.

- HE had to cut his meat

- had to have a fork, knife and spoon at all meals-- even if the meal

didn't require one...

- the fork had to be metal, the knife and spoon had to be plastic, etc.,

.....the above examples were a few of his " OCD " tendencies. All of the

above are gone now. They were " fixed " w/antivirals. And all other OCD

tendencies like the above went away after about day 20 on antivirals

(Valtrex).

By perseveration, I'm referring to his constant fixation on human body

parts. It's all he wants to talk about, it's the only type of books

that he wants to read, it's the only imaginative play that he chooses

to engage in (playing human body, doctor, etc.) at school or at home..

I recall a parent mentioning that they supplemented with Inositol for

perseveration. But after researching Inositol, It seems that it's

mostly used for self abusive behaviors, rage, impulsivity, and

disinhibition....

We never had abusive behaviors or rage. Impulsivity was fixed with MB12.

I'm just trying to figure the perseveration piece out. It's constant

and has been a really tough nut to crack.

Thanks for your time!!

Those can all be considered different manifestations of OCD, or they can be

considered somewhat separately.

My son needed anti-virals, anti-fungals, and B12 to eliminate his OCD. I used

natural anti-virals.

It is interesting that Valtrex eliminated one specific set of OCD-type issues,

and B12 eliminated another set.

You might consider other viruses. I don't know if Valtrex is effective against

all viruses. I used vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, and lysine to eliminate

viruses for my son. Each one appears to have addressed different viruses,

because I did them separately and with each one, different viruses were

eliminated and different symptoms resolved.

When my son would focus on the belly area, especially female bellies, it meant

he had a yeast overgrowth problem.

At one point in his life, he was highly focused on hugging everyone he met. I

tried to get him to shake hands instead, which was only mildly effective until I

addressed his thyroid issue, at which point he easily moved on to shaking hands

instead of hugging for people he did not know.

Hopefully something here will help.

Good luck.

We used OLE to deal with OCD very successfully. Is it because it's an antiviral?

Or is it because it dealt with strep/PANDAS? Both? I don't care, it worked.

> This question is in reference to the OCD behaviors-my son has intense OCD

behaviors and are there other antivirals that would work in addition to Valtex?

So far as I know, Valtrex is best for herpes viruses, not sure it helps with

other viruses.

Valtrex suppresses the virus.

Lysine eliminates herpes virus, so you might try lysine, along with the Valtrex,

so you can eliminate the herpes.

I used high doses of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, and lysine to eliminate

viruses at my house.

>>Is Valtex by prescription or OTC?

Prescription.

>>Would olive leaf extract work and what amounts are needed of each?

OLE was helpful here, I believe it also suppresses viruses, altho it may help

eliminate them. However, for my son, for example, his body had basically no

lysine in it, so giving OLE kept the virus under control, but did not eliminate

it. It took the lysine to eliminate the herpes, and the other supps to

eliminate the other viruses.

I started my kids with 250mg OLE and worked up as required. Watch for yeast

overgrowth, viral die off causes a lot of yeast.
