Guest guest
I think the most common treatment these days is a course of Zithromax and Mepron. Zithromax is an Abx, while Mepron is similar to quinine. I found Mepron made me very sleepy for the first few days. I hope your medical plan pays for the drugs because they are pricey. cheers Duncan > > Hey Guys, > I just got a call from my doc this evening (he also ran some quest labs on my husband because our insurnace covers them 100%)...but he called to say that Brad's quest lyme test was negative (no big suprise to him!) but that his Babesia was positive and extremely high...so he said there is no way of having the co-infection without having (or at least have had exposure to) Lyme itself. Guest guest
Dawn, The question of if Lyme can be transmitted sexually is still in debate by medical science. There is no ethical way to prove this. My LLMD expert doctors are split on this issue. The doctor that says it can't explains that yes Lyme can be found in tear drops and in sexual fluids but the amount that is found isn't sufficient enough to infect another person. A person's normal immune system would kill that small amount. Other doctors do believe that it can be transmitted sexually as well as by other vectors such as mosquitoes. Most families travel in the same area's so there is also a high probability that your husband was bitten without realizing it. My wife and I both have Lyme. I had a more severe case. I have spent many months trying to figure out if I infected her sexually. The conclusion that I came to it doesn't matter; what matters is you now know that your both infected and you need to get proper treatment to recover. When I started to tell my LLMD how long I thought I was infected she said that doesn't matter as much as how severe it is right now in the individual. Because this disease is so complex it affects us all differently. Some people are on deaths door days after being bit and others can live their entire life with Lyme without knowing they have it. So the lesson is to look at how you are now and put a plan in place to recover. Since we really don't know if Lyme and it's associated diseases can be transmitted sexually it's best to us precaution until the infections are totally out of your system to reduce any risk of spreading the disease. Be well, > > Hey Guys, > I just got a call from my doc this evening (he also ran some quest labs on my husband because our insurnace covers them 100%)...but he called to say that Brad's quest lyme test was negative (no big suprise to him!) but that his Babesia was positive and extremely high...so he said there is no way of having the co- infection without having (or at least have had exposure to) Lyme itself. Guest guest
Hi Dawn " Oh NO!! Now I have GUILT!! " whos been watching Walt disney to much then :-) Its Dino in Toy Story. " Should think him self lucky he hasnt got an immune system. " I understand your guilt it is awfull, and the only way to continue is try to get passed it. Focus on the fact its not fully proven in science. And also that stating that to someone with out the solid proof is a terrible thing to have done. I hope you find some peace in the holidays. Guest guest
None of us should have any guilt about being a victim of this terrible disease. If the experts are confused about the issue it is impossible for us to know how it is transmitted. We should consider ourselved victims of Lyme just like those that are victims of AIDS. When I tell people about my Lyme I tell them that I am a victim of Lyme and I was infected with Lyme, just like you might be infected by SARS or any other terrible disease. Sometimes I think that we do feel guilty because we say to ourselves if I just didn't go walking in the woods that day or if I just didn't let my child go to that picnic or did I infect a lover without knowing about how the disease is transmitted. All we are doing is living our lives innocently. There is nothing to feel guilty about. I think we should consider ourselves the victims and our only focus should be on recovering. We are all innocent victims! I remember our country's perception of AIDS shifted from labeling them as guilty for getting the disease to feeling sorry for these poor people when they started using the term " infected by AIDS " and " victims of AIDS " . Perception is reality. We should all consider ourselves victims of this terrible disease. Please don't feel guilty for being sick! " Lets not be victims anymore, but instead fighters and overcomers. By the way MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU, may 2006 be one of healing and hope. You all are amazing fighters. Guest guest
Dawn, My llmd also believes it is transmitted through every body fluid. He told me Lyme has been found in semen, vaginal fluid, tears, urine, saliva and amniotic fluid. He also prefers to treat or at least test the partner if the Lyme patient is in a relationship. I was also forced to sign and get notarized a document stating I would not get pregnant will in treatment for Lyme. Just think about it Lyme is a spirochete, just as syphillis is a spirochete and causes much the same symptoms, so why couldn't it be sexually transmitted? However, there is the possibility also that you could have transmited it through a kiss or the same tick could have bit both of you if it called off one person to the other...or HE could have given it to you! Like AIDS, I personally think Lyme is a lot more likely to be spread sexually from man to woman and not vice versa. All the same sounds like you're both sick. Get him in treatment. If he tests pos for Babs get him on Mepron. Artemisinin is also helpful. Does he have the night sweats? Some people carry inactive Babs. --- In , Dawn Irons <gratefulwife2brad@s...> be treated before Bb?? > > From the great Disney film (I forget which one at the moment...), " Oh NO!! Now I have GUILT!! Guest guest
hello all. My question is will LDN help with co-infections? Since finding out i have chronic Lyme, my doctor told me to learn more about co-infections. I already have a couple and am wondering if LDN will keep me from getting new ones. thank you, Terri 2 months on LDN and glad about it.
