Guest guest
Thank u all for the tips shared, very very helpful!!! I agree w that the food was horrible. I was there once before in my life and the memory of the never ending fast food rests that look like something better, still remains. I was pregnant and l remember everything made me nauseous. The point is, my kiddo is SCD since 2 yrs ago so now that l know the ups and downs of taking food into the park, l will plan and prepare ahead. We non scders: will eat the not " so bad " choices... I appreciate your time answering my questions! Thanks to all. Isa Enviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de Telcel [ ] Re: Very OT: visiting disney- how to proceed? I agree Disney was magical for my son. He did far better than I expected. That being said, I thought the whole food situation sucked. I was really disappointed. I flew there and had to ship food overnight, so my options were limited in what I could get to take into the parks myself. I had a difficult time acquiring " safe " food for my son to eat that I could prepare while in our resort to take into the parks, and I was terribly disappointed with the food in the parks. Most of the " restaurants " are nothing more than fast food - you stand in a long line, get your food, the struggle to find a quiet place to sit and eat it. In the sit down restaurants, which were difficult to get into, and we often waited in line 30 minutes or more - even with a reservation, we would have to wait a looooong time for the chefs to come out and speak to me about my son's allergies. And yes, I did notify in advance. I sent paperwork before we even left, per Disney's protocol, I called ahead, every time. Yet the thing was this - just ask for the chef when you arrive at the restaurant. We did that. And waited. By the time the chefs would come out to find out our situation, the entire rest of my family would have ordered and received their food. This happened in every restaurant. It was very, very stressful to keep my child patient while we waited for his food. I couldn't eat my meal which would already have arrived. I ate cold food the whole time the whole time we were there because of this - I would have my son outside the restaurant to keep calm, waiting until his food arrived. We have soy allergy and are not GFCF. There were plenty of GFCF options - that I'll give you. But the food was still heavily processed and full of chemicals. Organic food was not to be found, either. By the time we got home, my son was constipated, had a migraine, and starting a rash from the chemicals in the food. For being so " environmentally aware " Disney sure doesn't have the food to show it. > > > > Dear All! > > I plan to visit Disney this december. Guest guest
Depending on where you eat I agree. At animal kingdom we did hamburgers. They were really good exp for theme park, price wasn't too bad. At epcot we ate at the " fast food " mexican place across from mexico. It was good along with decent price and a lot of food. Also behind the restaurant is a good place to watch illumination s. We sat next to a tree planter so no aggressive/stupid people invaded our space. If you like fish and chips like capt'n d's England pub is good. My asd child had a good breakfast at the house we rented before our day started. He snacked or had a sandwich at the park. Then it was dinner at the house. At magic kingdom there was bench seating around the huck fin area that was out of the normal flow of park goers, nice and quiet. Also we sat between its a small world and the carousel. There was some restaurant on the corner. Anyways there was enough going on when the kiddos got bored while we ate, for someone to walk them around. Don't forget! Disney also allows " parent swap " . One parent rides the ride with a child, then upon return you can swap adults out and the kid rides again. I can't recall if its certain rides or not .. Disney use to have a map that had price signs next to the restaurant. There was a key that had the range of dollar amounts. Sorry about this post being all over the place. I'm on my phone. Someone should make a web side for theme parks and parents with special kids. Have people posting about things/ areas that worked for them. Rate the food places on special diets. And an area that breaks the rides down on if your child likes this motion the rides for you! Or how the ride is therapy wise Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone with Nextel Direct Connect [ ] Re: Very OT: visiting disney- how to proceed? I agree Disney was magical for my son. Guest guest
We ordered food from gardengrocer.com They delivered right to the hotel, and actually had a decent selection of foods (we are GFCF). I believe you have to order at least a few days ahead of time. > > > > > > Dear All! > > > I plan to visit Disney this december. I have heard that one can ask for a special pass for our ASD kids.
