Guest guest
Has anyone noticed a marked increase in appetite with the use of Enhansa? My 14 yr old as been taking Enhansa for just over 2 weeks (75 mg. twice per day) and now wants to eat every 1-2 hours. It's getting really hard to manage. Why would it cause this? I can't find any literature mentioning it. Any thoughts on how to counteract it? Thanks. D

And sometimes yeast overgrowth will make you want to eat constantly. Dana
Guest guest
I'm not sure on this one. We are still taking Enhansa (3 months?) at the full recommended dose. My son does want to eat every few hours but I'm not sure that differs from his behavior prior to starting. He was in school 2/3 of this time so I don't know what it was like during school hours. I'll keep an eye on it. My son has always been a frequent eater. Very slim, quite tall. Growing well. Try some chromium picolinate with meals. It is supposed to help regulate insulin which, in turn, might regulate appetite. It doesn't affect my son's desire to eat but it might help yours? At age 14, this could also be coincidence with that normal teenage appetite. My husband's mother used to tell stories of how much my husband ate as a teen. It was gross! Guest guest
Has be been on any anti-fungals before? enhansa is a very potent anti-fungal. When my kids are having yeast die-off, they constantly crave. Usually fruit (as that is the only sweet I allow). Try to determine if he is really hungry of if he is only craving. Offer him something like meat or veggies! > > Has anyone noticed a marked increase in appetite with the use of Enhansa? Guest guest
Thanks everyone regarding my question. My daughter is also on Nystatin for a 30 day course, but we never saw an increase in appetite with it. She eats plenty of lean meats and some veggies. She very phenol sensitive, so that may be affecting everything. I discontinued the Enhansa yesterday and her eating decreased slightly - instead of four meals and 3 snacks, she ate five meals and one snack. I'm thinking of reintroducing the Enhansa in about a week or two and just keeping it at 75 mg. per day. i think Enhansa might have real promise, but it will have to be a really low levels. Dana - do you know of any studies etc. about Enhansa flaring up yeast if there is a viral issue. I'd like share that with our docs. :-) Pam - Thanks for the chromium picolinate idea. That may be helpful. Thanks! D. > > > Has anyone noticed a marked increase in appetite with the use of Enhansa? Guest guest
My daughter(8) is also on Enhansa 150 mg twice a day for about 2 weeks. There is no difference in her eating pattern/amount. Her appetite is more better than before (no need to encourage her to eat good food). I don't want to sound negative, but frequent eating of food (not just sweets) can be caused by either parasites or low blood sugar. In kids, mostly it is parasites. Did you notice your kid gaining weight as his food consumption is increased? If no, that means parasites. You may try something like Biocidin or Paragone (talk to his doctor). Good luck. regards, Ragha > > Has anyone noticed a marked increase in appetite with the use of Enhansa? No studies, just a whole lot of parents in person and by email and on public message boards, commenting on that fact. Plus my knowledge that viral die off causes a LOT of yeast. Guest guest
Thanks all. Lots of good suggestions. Our daughter has an appointment with her DAN! next week so I'll bounce the ideas off of him! :-) D. > > > > Has anyone noticed a marked increase in appetite with the use of Enhansa? Guest guest
I pretty much agree that any kind of die off (viral or bacterial) causes yeast to flare up. In Enhansa's case, it is supposed to be an anti fungal too (as they claim). To be on safe side, we are always using anti fungals during chelation and after. Thanks, Ragha > > Dana - do you know of any studies etc. about Enhansa flaring up yeast if there is a viral issue.
